US Legal Issues of Engine Swaping

There has been some confusion about how legal engine swapping (in the US) is on some of the forums that I'm on.. so I did the research. I called the EPA and was referred to the following site:

http://www.epa.gov/compliance/resour.../engswitch.pdf

Page 2, second to last paragraph implicitly forbids swapping foreign engines into American cars. Not that I care, I'm going to do it anyway.. but we can put this issue to rest.

FAQ please?

HAHAHA...you mean it's NOT legal to put a non emissions conforming engine into your car?!?!?..in fact an engine that wasn't even sold in this country in the turbocharged form..well this is news to me...

It wasn't answered if there are so many people debating if it's legal.

No! We have foolios like you who don't use the search button and think they are gods gift to the board for bringing up this S H I T over and over again. The information in your link has been passed around many times so don't think you're doing any of us a favor, especially the people that read this thing all the time.

just because the morons of the world debate something doesn't mean you are smart for coming up with an answer that already exists...

the reason people are making so much fun should tell you that it was already answered...not one person has come on here and posted.."oh really?..wow, thanks for answering that one"...

and where was this debate?...kindergarden this morning?

Thanks for the informative post. Try not to take the flaming to heart. Just next time try to search around a little before you post/research a topic. There is a lot of information just to be learned form this forum. Even though this may be an old topic a lot of us appreciate he thought and time of sharing this with the rest of us.
