See all your points are hypocritical. If there was a show that was a reality type show about black people being thugs and shootings drugs and killing people the NAACP would be screaming bloody murder. If there was a show about Mexicans portraying them in an extremely negative light they would be screaming bloody murder.

Now when Italian Americans get upset all of sudden they are too PC and they should take the shit? Fuck that.

What about the Gays and the way a lot of you put them down? Fuck there are even people on this forum that call gays evil and abominations. Are gays not supposed to get upset about that?

It happens to bother me that MTV is promoting this kinda of bullshit. It happens to bother me that there are jack asses out there giving my heritage and extremely bad name.

I could introduce you to several black people that were not the least but impressed by the blackxploitation films of the 70's. Did it make it right they were made by blacks? No. Did it piss some black people off for portraying them in extremely negative light? Yes.

If this show was a comedian doing comedy like Chappelle it would be different. Its not.

southpark
all those shows/movies have reflected most of fucked up shit per there depiction of there race...and there still aired, and just like this show, some people complain about them...

i dont need to go on...shit happens...

theres more than one side to everything, sorry to say for you the comically relieved populous is here...

personally, good/great comedy is best when it reflects life...this show, well pretty much for me and many, is a comedy,

was it fucked up that the chick got punch...yeah, was it funny to an extent, yeah, does the show promote Italians as nothing but violent people, no man, cmon, only narrow minded fools think that...

if your angry, write a letter, protest it, do something more than post in a car forum, other wise wats the point...

Seriously though, I often get a kick out of people who like to relate 'heritage' to 'race'. Not that being proud of your heritage isn't a good thing, but getting offended over what happens on a comedic TV show only perpetautes the overuse and misuse of the race card.

All of our ancestors were, at one point, ridiculed, enslaved, or lowest class. Shoudl we all not ever make jokes? I'm not going to get pissed off if there was some show about british americans drinking, swilling, being rowdy, and generally behaiving like bafoons. I can see that it's just a tv show, and nothing more.

I don't think it's at all offensive because I don't think that the show is attempting to label all Italian Americans as being in any way similar to these protein-chomping lipgloss-wearing greasy douchebags.

The fact that 99% of Italian Americans are perfectly upstanding doesn't make these idiots any less douchey any more than it makes John Gotti more respectable. Every population has it's outliers. Can't we make fun of them all together?


Honestly, while MTV apparently tried to get an all Italian American cast (a mistake, IMO), there are LOTS of people in that area that pick up the *SNIP* lifestyle without being of that lineage. It's a geographical phenomenon, not really an ethnic phenomenon. I've met Anglo-Saxon, Persian, and Indian fist-pumping collar-popping Staten Island fuckwads too.
