This thread once had a topic, then 240XTC had to lie to try and make it seem like he was a pioneer of US Drifting and the young age of 15.
Then the topic of the thread went from "Drifting is stupid" to "240XTC is stupid... and a liar... and a bad liar at that... and no one here likes him... and isn't doing his 'company' any favors..." the title could have been changed 5 times.
Hilarity ensued in what COULD have been an epic thread, but eventually things just tuckered out and died...

However.

The thread does still have a topic, and is in the section built for arguing, so it shall live on. It will live on in having proven right the opinions of those that DRIFTERS (and wannabe/internet drifters) themselves are reasons enough to not like drifting, in the whole "one bad 240XTC spoils the bunch" kinda way.

Well said.
There is a list of thread that 240XTC enters, and they go to shit.
Now that you have seen it happen, you will start to notice it too.

perfect points. Prior to 240xtc et al turning this into a school-yard bickerfest, there were great comments and discussions about drifting/differing viewpoints of where the 240sx community is going.

in trying to get this thread back in order

what do you guys think of the above film when it comes to drifting?

also, do you guys think winter 240sx/rwd driving changes impressions of drifting?

in lots of ways techniques and skills required to drift and to adequately drive in snow are similar. one could call drifting's huge popularity on the west coast as in-part a result of the fact you lucky rust-free california car drivers dont get the great opportunity to slide the hell out of your car all the time for months out of the year.

One of the main points in that "bickerfest" is that people like the above mentioned are whats currently wrong with the "drift scene" here in the states.

I absolutely love that movie and most of Steve McQueens work for that matter. But absolutely nothing in that scene has anything to do with drifting.
More along the lines of insanely heavy cars, with garbage handling, and huge V8s in the front, trying to rally the streets of S.F.

Wouldnt snow and adverse weather give you the same opportunities?
Obviously theres more risk on ice but it seems to me like a lot of the Japanese drivers credit a lot their drifting ability to the fact that they had to learn to drive in crazy Japanese winters.
and yeah sucks for you guys about the rust.

Drifting is big on the west coast because CA is blessed with the largest population of poser douchebags in the world.
Has nothing to do with weather trust me.

we are also closer to japan so we get shit FIRST.

somewhat. ironically it takes added skill to maintain a loss of traction (in dry conditions) which separates drifting from what you're talking about. drifting in the rain is fun and better for building confidence especially on a tight course!
