My macbook is awesome for absolutely everything (except for playing SC2.) It runs amazingly quick, it never locks up on me, it has plenty of storage, it works perfectly for all of my photoshoping and imaging needs, BUT..... With a new Gateway or HP, for example, tower I can hook it up to my plasma TV in HD and have 42" of SC2, as well as watching movies, and posting on Zilvia on a HUGE screen.

plus, most of the computers best buys has is probably normal home/office/student type computers with some general video card. pc gaming is expensive since it cost a lot to build a pc. this is one of the reasons pc gaming is dying. |

^it does not cost alot to build a gaming pc...
back then it was, you where looking at 2-3k to build a pc that can handle a top of the line game, now you spend like 600 bucks and it can handle about everything you throw at it. pc gaming will never die.

I just finished the campaign on my macbook pro 13". worked fine.. not best graphics but it worked.. the campaign was garbage.. you didn't get to play as zerg once and you played protoss like maybe once.. it was a complete waste.. what was the whole zelnaga hybrid mid story and how kerigan was key but in the end it was like oh push this button and the world is saved.. arturis never got what he had coming..
yeah because it's impossible to copy a wii, ps2, ps3, or xbox360 game...

most ppl need to get a computer anyways and they aren't used exclusively for gaming. most home computers handle games just fine, even if not optimally. If anything, I think the game developers need to take that into consideration (well most do anyways). even then, building nice gaming rigs aren't anywhere near the most expensive hobby out there. I'm pretty happy with all the PC games coming out throughout the years, I haven't noticed much of a slowdown relative to the past. Quote:
probably blizzards going to release the other faction campaigns as dlc's/expansions, & gouge accordingly I'd just wait for the 'gold edition' a few years down the road. |

pc gaming is a shadow of its former self. there used to be stores that sold pc games exclusively (babbages for example). you had to go to fucking toys r us to pick up a console game. nowadays go into any store and look at the PC 'section.' it's probably three or four shelves tucked away in the back of the store, stocked by a bunch of B-rated shit titles you never heard of and a few big games that are more than four years old. all big releases used to be PC only. some of you may recall that moh: allied assault and call of duty 1 were PC only. nowadays they are console games with shitty PC ports.
price of a PC was not a factor in PC's demise. e.g.: PC was going strongest when rigs were basically at their most expensive, and you had to upgrade very often. processing requirements since have kind of plateaued significantly since then. you can run the same computer for 4-5 years and maybe buy a $200 graphics card somewhere in there, and you'll be pretty good for the whole span. back in the day, you'd be going from high quality setting down to barely chugging along unless you bought a straight up brand new computer every 2 years. (thank god for increasing dependency on GPUs, on that note) so what killed PC gaming? #1 piracy. yes it did #2 but more importantly, consoles closing the gap in terms of power. yeah PCs will always be faster, but not so much faster than you can offer a significantly better experience on PC vs. console, as you could in say, 1998. imagine trying to get half life 1 running on a ps1? yeah right. didn't get ported until ps2 came out a few years later, and the port experience was, of course, inferior to the original PC experience you could get 2 years in the past. nowadays the PC version will probably run significantly higher res, better lighting, textures, etc. - assuming the developer cares enough to make the PC version better (as oftentimes they do not). but at the end of the day, the difference in graphics isn't striking enough to make someone throw out their 360 and build a PC. totally different story than 10-15 years ago. pc had fmv, full voice, 3d graphics and then textured 3d graphics, etc. for years before console caught up, which really only happened with this latest 360/ps3 generation. |

^ I haven't had one error with Stacraft 2. Even with the beta. Although I did get dropped once as I was finishing off my opponent. That sucked.

For a game that's eleventy billion years in the making.. you'd think it'd have a complete story line... not one with more holes than my underwear..

True, but their goal is to milk this thing for all they can. If they can just get it out there, and make us keep paying for it over and over again, why not?

It's inevitable that ppl are going to compare it with the orignal. It's just a matter of how much gouging Blizzard can afford to do without pissing off too much of their customer base. I'm willing to wait (when you get to be my age, years fly by like months) but I'd wager the majority of customers can't. |

it works out for the buyer b/c it's convenient, usually no sales tax, & many specials. (I got Bioshock & Mass Effect for $5 each) retail stores are pretty much unnecessary & I can see how it wouldn't be their priority. Even without the sites, it's often cheaper to buy games on Amazon to skimp tax. Personally I'm not too concerned about the graphic capabilities of a pc, even though I agree it's a pro. There are just a good deal of games that are PC exclusive, despite porting. I just prefer PC games to consoles in general, I don't know how to explain in detail. I prefer the use of a keyboard & mouse, vs. some joystick. I also like the fact that even new PC games are still $50, vs $60 for consoles. To me, PC gaming actually works out to be more affordable than consoles, but I'm probably not in the majority. In the past few years I've purchased less than a dozen games combined for my 360 & Ps3, vs. dozens for my PC. |

dont bash on SCII, blizzard could have given us a crammed 3 race campaign that would havent even touched the quality of the campaign they put out, its 100x better than the SCI campaign.
The future zerg and protoss campaigns are gonna be cool as shit. After playing the campaign and messin around on multiplayer I really have no qualms at all with the game, theres nothing to be left desired at all cepptttt Id like to see some of the campaign upgrades over on the multiplayer, supply depot drop and repairing armor is badass, I know why theyre not there bc of checks and balances, prob in the future additions all the different techs will work their way into multi |

League of Legends is a really good DotA 'port'. But Storm of the Imperial Sanctum blows it out of the water! HoN.. bleh, I would rather pay for SC2 then HoN any day.
Seriously though, try SotIS! |

i don't get why people would pirate sc to play campaign. there's a story there, yes, and you get to learn about the units, but most of the fun is in multiplayer (as it is with most games) and i'm pretty sure you can't experience that on a pirated copy.
yes, activision is splitting sc2 into 3 parts to milk the cash cow as much as they can. it's activision, the company that made a shitload of sequels for guitar hero and call of duty. i can't complain though. knowing how picky blizzard is with their games, they would have delayed it another 5 yrs if it was just to be a standalone sc2 + a future expansion. 2 additional sc2 will be like expansions and hopefully they add 2-3 new units/per race. what more can a sc fan want? i rather have my sc2 now then in 2015. i'm just not happy that i'll have to pay $180 for all three, but over time it's not as bad as it seems. before i got into PCs, which was fairly recently, i wondered why pc gaming was dying. googled and read some articles and there are a majority of reasons. one of the main reasons is piracy and developers not making as much due to it than on a console version. they spend all their time and money developing a game on pc that's going to get pirated, when the console market is more lucrative. plus they have to worry about different specs when developing compared to consoles since people have all types of different pcs. with consoles, everyone has a standard unit. there are other reasons, such as a gaming pc costing way more than a console. for $300, people can get a console and not worry if a game will run on it. the average joe will go with a xbox or ps3 if they know nothing about building a pc. i'm starting to get most of my games on pc except for multiplayers (which i'll usually get on xbox because of the xbox live userbase) and exclusives, which ill get on xbox, ps3, or wii, respectively. most of the single player games i'm getting on pc like fallout 3, mass effect, bioshock, just cuase 2, etc. the resolution and graphics are just plain superior and i don't know why people would settle for less. plus pc games are usually cheaper than consoles and you can get some great sales on steam. |
