Blu808 (Luke)

Ok, I know Luke (Blu808) doesn't have a shop open, YET...But for the work that he's done for the members on this board, we should recognize him for his quality fabrication and installs. He's also a Group Buy vendor so I think he should be reviewed in this Reviews Forum.

Luke installed my tranny in less then 1 day. I dropped it off in the morning and got the car back in the afternoon.

He also rewired all the transmission sensors and even took the time to sodder the connections in. This shows you how detailed he is and how he takes his time to do quality work.

Get the job done right the FIRST TIME. Take it to Luke.
All around nice guy to chat with too. Great communication.

luke, 95silvia and i got drunk and swapped my 5 speed tranny in today. For most of the swap, luke was the only one sober and persevered even though almost everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong.

+1111111 for lukes perserverance. shock swapping. with total sucess.

I have had a horrible experience with Luke in the past. First of all he is a liar and a cheat. Yes that is a harsh thing to say about someone but it is true.

I am not lying nor do I have anything personally against him. This is strictly business... I do not have a personal vendetta against him. If you have any questions regarding my experience with Luke please feel free to PM me and I will be glad to give you the details.

I am sure there are MANY people on this board who have had great experience with him, especially with his welded diffs. I am just one person who has had a bad experience. Also, I have a friend who has spoken to Luke from time to time and he says that he is a complete bullshitter as well. Anyway, PM me for more details, I have nothing to hide

Im in the process of a business transaction with Luke as i traded my rb-s13 for his rx7 v8.

Nothing to complain about so far except for the fact that hes mad busy and is sometimes hard to get in touch with; but you cant really blame him given his recent business, networking, and his new shop. For the most part everything seems to be running smoothly and I dont personally forsee any conflict in the future. Pretty cool guy.

I'll solidify my review once the transaction is over.

I believe Luke already has a business review thread, but anyways.
I can vouch for Luke, he's a standup guy who tries to hook all his homies up, which leaves him real busy. Lately he's been moving around his personal residence and also opening up a shop.

Ok this is not my thread so I didn't want to clutter up this thread up when I could just start my own. I kinda just let it go since it wasn't a big deal but when I saw this thread I wanted to say that I had a bad experience with him.

My friend Keith gave him my s14 pedal set so he could try out or whatever on an s13. I believe they didn't fit, but he never gave them back nor did he pay me for them. At first I was like wtf, but there wasn't really anything I could do except kick his ass? But I wasn't going to do that... anyway, a few weeks later I see one of his for sale threads and he's selling a fucking s14 pedal set!!

I called him out on it but of course he denied it. Said they were a different set.

So there you have it, Luke is a THIEF. Luke is a LIAR. I have absolutely NO reason to lie about this.

please do not post in a thread that you are being reviewed in. Instead, do what must be done via IM/PM and let the user posting the review/grievance clear one's name.

Which pedals were they exactly? From what i remember they were off of one of keiths front clips?

Do you think that is fair?
They were the jdm s14 pedals off of the white front clip that was at his house about 2 years ago. if you want to resolve this, PM me

Both of Luke's review forums have been merged into this one. Please check before a new review, so that this doesn't happen again.

:sidenote: I have dealt with Luke on numerous occaisions and he has never given me a reason not to trust him. Luke is a good guy.

I've delt with Luke many times.
He's always been straightforward and honest. He's worked on my car 6 times now. He's busy, but that's understandable, and he is very fair.

Dude RPS13 Fastback like you said this is strictly business. If you are not up on game you will get hassled and ripped off.

I met Luke 1 time when he was working at Strictly Z and dude didnt even know who the hell I was and flat out gave me a bunch of JDM silvia shit for my swap and offered me a complete exhaust system.

I find it a bit difficult to believe that he would turn around and steal shit off other people, mainly due to the fact that he has a bunch of parts laying around as is. I've suffered similar experience when I used to fix MR2's for people. A couple of those dumb sacks of shi*t accused me of fucking their cars up n stealing parts blah blah blah... Sooooo it really pisses me off to read what you are saying. Nothing personal against you man but you gotta be up on game, specially if you are paying for work. Means LUKE or NOT get the full details of the job or situation so that you dont get played. Most "GOOD" mechanics are always busy and have parts left and right (or so they say) and so unless you "KNOW" them flat out personally I wouldnt let my complete guard down although from up front meeting Luke dont seem like a bad person.

Truth is man... there are no friends in business coz friends dont charge friends (in theory per se) however Luke is a well known nissan guy so you cant expect him to ever do anything for free or to always be honest. Im sure if you see an opportunity to come up you will take it too... So you seem like a whiner man and that sucks coz you are salting up another persons reputation for nothing man.
Just keep in mind that if he f*cked u over he will get his in the near future.

It's MOTHAFUCKIN LUKE!!!

Weld Lockd v3.5 for life.

What else is there to be said.

All his work is quality, and he will get upset if he thinks work is done wrong.

He'll go out of his way to make sure everything is PERFECT.

Mmm. I wonder if I'm allowed to drunken myself at his shop...

RPS13FASTBACK: Are you serious? You're crying about some pedals. Just because they were off of a clip doesn't make them worth anymore.

And ever more so, there are always two sides to a story, but for Luke to give you $140 fuckin dollars and you not even say thanks or any kid words in this thread doesn't make you sound verry admirable.

Manji Parts aka Lukes shop blu808 Big Thumbs UP!

so I come up to the bay area to pick up a car. Previous owner strips the threads on the oil pan. Drops oil, I managed to get another drain plug and hold till I could drive down to Manji Parts. I had contacted Luke only because I thought I might need to tap it and knew he could do it on the fly.
Seeing as I did not have a floor jack and whatnot needed to do the work myself.

Basically he put what he had going on aside and made room for me to bring it in. He sold me another SR pan and installed it for me for $100. I also got to check out some of the FAB work they are doing over there. Plus a little touge run up to shop located in the hills of Los Gatos. He was very friendly and great to deal with and does some great cage work as well.

All in all a great experience. If you need a SR install or for that fact any install RB, LS1 etc in the San Francisco bay area he is the man.

Blu808

I received in the mail a well packaged polished stainless fuel surge can. Very nice welds, and attention to detail. Putting this on my time attack car. Definitely a high quality part.
Pics available here for those wondering what this is.

I don't know why im posting this, I left the 240 scene shortly after posting that and am active again with another s13 starting from scratch and doing things right this second time around.

As I originally posted in 06. I saw Luke post an ad for sale/for trade for his blue FC rx7. At the time he was posting it with the FC coming with a 5.0 v8 out of a mustang and a world class transmission. I offered my s13 rb25 hatch as a trade and he accepted.

I drove over there, let him test it out, he then said sure lets do the trade. I said cool. Part of the transaction included his labor in putting in the motor and tranny into the FC. Shortly after making the deal solid, I told him that instead of the 5.0 powertrain, I wanted him to credit me for that and I'll pick up an ls1/t56 combo instead and front some money to get the swap complete. He agreed to this.

So I shop around and get a hold of a very nice ls1/t56 set up complete for the swap. Luke offers to pick it up as I didnt have any means to transport the powertrain at the time. He picks it up.

This is when he starts to disappear and act aloof. I try him over the phone and on AIM a lot--I inquire about the progress of the car. Most of the time he only gave me a response consisting of "don't worry, we'll get it done." Days go by, weeks go by and no update.

I went to DeAnza college at the time and met a guy in the parking lot as he noticed I had a "shock drift racing" decal on the back of the car (Luke put that on when we he had the car a few days after we agreed to do the exchange, I continued to drive the s13 until the FC was to ready). This guy tells me he knows Luke. He says that Luke is building a sweet ls1 FC; I tell him "yeah thats my car hes building as part of the trade we made for my rbs13." The guy says "well Luke says its his and he plans on competing with the car."--THIS is when I start to realize what's going on.

I ask Luke about this and he says that before we make the swap, he would like to compete with the car in one or two events. I reluctantly agree to it seeing as how he is doing the labor at a decreased cost.

After this point, he kind of drops off the face of the earth, even after I try my hardest to keep in contact, I even visit his old shop and then his new shop in order to keep in contact. And out of the blue one day he contacts me and tells me that he just wants to pay me for the motor. He only wants to pay me 3200 or 3300 (i cant remember exactly it was 4 years ago) when I payed hundreds more for the motorset. At this point I just want it to all end, so I agree with it. It takes him WEEKS to come up with the money.

In the end, I had my time wasted, was given the run around, and was out about 500 dollars. It really sucked. I never bothered to mention it because he had such a stellar name here on zilvia, and I'm not really the type of person to get bent out of shape about it. It was more my fault for not making the transaction legally binding. You live, you learn. I was only 20 years old then.

Anyways. Just wanted to shed some light on my experience. I still get pretty upset about it all when I think about it.

I have all the PM's about the trade still, as well as the AIM conversation logs, and my credit card transaction for the motorset and copy of the check he wrote to me.

So for all of you that remember that Blue Ls1 FC luke had around that time....that was supposed to be mine.
