One of the better North American Tripels out there. Pretty much all Unibroue stuff is fantastic. I'm a big fan of Trois Pistoles.

I had some Horseheads Pumpkin, and Towpath Ale tonight that we got up at Watkins Glen. The Pumpkin is actually damn good, the Towpath is so/so

Grabbed a sixer of this, Stoudts Oktoberfest, can't say I was totally satisfied with it.

Tried the Festbier at Gordon Bierche in Annapolis, which was awesome.

Went to BJs last night and tried their pumpkin ale and it was pretty tasty. Very cinnamony and malty.

It's probably because you're looking in a grocery store or something (not to say that all grocery stores have crap beer)... Go to a specialty liquor store and get something more than 15 bucks for a 30 rack. Depends on what kind of flavors you like too. Since it's getting colder you probably want to stick to something more seasonal and dark. They pair well with hearty foods and have a more robust rich flavor. Just depends on what you like though I suppose.

I think the problem with this thread is many of you drink to get drunk. That lies the problem with being interested in the taste of beer.

Last Night:
Sierra Nevada Wet Hop Harvest -- This was 'ok' at best.

De Dochner - Embrasse -- I love this beer...a winner everytime, even better on tap

Founders - Breakfast Stout -- I wasn't driving, and really wanted a nice top to the night. Can't go wrong here. Wish it was Kentucky, but I'll live

(All on tap at Liberty Street Tavern, in Allentown PA)

The Victory Festbier is much better than the Stoudts for sure...in fact many Stoudts beers of late (to me) aren't the same. Maybe it' sbecause I'm used to them or something...

Talking

im waiting for this one to come back starting january
shit is tasty.

Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale
10% alc.

First brewed to celebrate the new millennium, BJ’s Grand Cru has been an annual tradition ever since. This strong Belgian-style ale is brewed with imported Belgian malts and some secret ingredients, resulting in a malty character with a whirlwind of fruit and spice flavors.

Walper, GTFO. This thread was going great without you.

Codyace, I think I'm gonna pick up some of the victory stuff next time I get to the store, I've heard good things from a few sources. The stoudts isn't bad necessarily, its just not good.

Anyone hear about that Sam Adams/Weihenstephan collaboration beer that was supposed to come out?

Victory is certainly a very traditional based brewery...very German oriented at that as well.

A lot like Delerium Nocturnum, but with less astringency and harshness.

Great stuff if you can find it.

I enjoyed La Terrible (on tap) earlier this year, but found it difficult to drink too much of it.
imo, it had the consistency of cough syrup, and the flavors were pretty intense.
it felt richer than a stout.
The name isn't entirely inappropriate.

you really have to try out first hand.
I'd probably recommend sharing a large bottle with a friend or two that more open minded about drinks in general.
thought it would have gone with a gourmet burger, but it overwhelmed it imo.
honestly idk what foodstuffs La Terrible would go well with.

it's an undeniable great beer, probably not something you'd want to drink often.
had no trouble finding it at some of the larger Whole Foods and some of the gastropubs in LA.
Had mine @ 'Stout' in Hollywood, CA.
I recommend that place for their burgers and tap selection.

Well started with a nice High Life after work...then went to a troeginator when I got home.

Now just cracked a nice Ballast Point - Sculpin IPA probably the best IMO IPA out there (and yes, I've had Elder/Younger on tap).
