pros and cons Ka24deR SC or Turbo?

Hi everyone!

Living in Cali can be shitty for any Motorsports enthusiast unless your into old school hotrods or anything vintage(pre cali smog). I have currently a KA24de stock setup to please the CARB board. Also got sick of swapping the SR in and out everytime the CHP or my local neighborhood peace office looks at my car funny. Actually, one of the local police officer knows his stuff and popped me and took pic's of my engine and the whole nine when I was running my SR! (which heighten my paranoia) haha!

So at this time, I have been slowly collecting my SC parts and all I need is the KA24der kit to finish the project.

I'm sure this topic has been debated to death but my question is just that on the title. Not talking about any other SC kit, just the KA24deR since their by no means a cheap kit. I don't want to be swapping engines in and out but swapping parts e.g.(intake manifold, exhaust etc...) I don't mind since it doesn't involve renting a engine hoist. So that being said:

"What would be the pro's and con's of Ka24deR vs. T25/28 turbo set up?" & I notice that they posted a dyno chart of their run. Is that crank HP? or on the wheel HP?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Pro's :Instant power like any other vehicle that is SC's
:Great low end torque
:Low key
Con's: Requires a bit more power to make power
: Lost of high end power

The list can go on and on, and it really depends on what your ultimate goals are. I mean a full on track car/drift, turbo will be ideal in my opinion, since the RPM's will rarely see less then 5-6k. On the other hand if the vehicle meant to be daily driven with spirited driving in mind, the supercharger will be perfect for this application. I personally had faced this dilemma before and I actually purchased a Superchager for my KA too, but never followed through with it. Just like you, I wanted to have fun and be less conspicuous under the hood at the sametime, which is difficult from time to time. Well this is my 2 cent, Which ever you decide to take, anything will feel better then your typical KA.

Thanks KLgear, Yeah I thought about all the scenarios, I'm only planning on using nothing but bolt-on parts(e.g. cam's, header, CAI etc..and tuning w/a AEM stand-a-lone). This car is my DD and mountains/spirited and a occasional auto-x. Although I love to spank my buddies S2K on the track. That maybe a very tall order.

NP, the Supercharger will be great for your application, haha. For reference, my friend had the SC set in his s14 many moons ago, and he was able to keep up with SR's. It would be awesome to see another SC KA running again, and if you do decide the SC route, I can help you source one.

Hey KLgear,

I already have a brand spankin new m62 Eaton SC from the Nissan Dealership. KA24deR kit is all I need to finish to put the motor together. Then the fun starts by tuning. If you can source me a kit for less than full retail (bend over) price tag I can get this project on the road!
