Your first problem was being young and dumb for buying a modded car from someone you don't know. Second you have no knowledge on how to fix or repair cars. Now your chasing gremlins because you didn't think about bringing a knowledgeable person to check out this car before you purchased it.
1st issue, why don't you try jacking up the rear end of the car, put it on stands and turn on the car and have someone slowly drive the car while its in the air and see if you can still hear that grinding noise. If so, check if there is diff oil in there. When draining oil check if there are metal fragments shavings, if there is then that is a sign that the rear diff is prob messed up.
Rear subframe bushings are a common problem with any s-chassis due to the age of the car. Usually you don't hear grinding noise if it is the rear subframe, more like it will hop and clunk.
If it is the rear diff, you can source one used from a number of places, a stock open diff is fairly cheap used esp on craigslist or on the forums.
Second issue. While the car is up in the air, why don't u try tracing where the gas is dripping from? From there you can figure out what you want to do. If its a gas line, then that's not too bad get a new line and install it. Done.
If its the gas tank, well go find someone parting out their car and buy that one, drop ur gas tank and put in the used one. Done. HOW much will this COST? It will cost you as much as you can get the parts for and your time if you do it yourself. If you bring it to a shop or mechanic be prepared to get shafted in labor charges. And I do not suggest "TRYING to PATCH" a hole/crack the on the gas tank.
