I can assure you it is not any of the relays. If any of the relays were bad you would NOT hear a click sound at all. If you have a new battery and a new starter than it should no longer be either of those. I have had the same problem for a long time now replacing the battery, alternator, starter. The problem is the ignition switch. There is only 1 screw holding that onto the lock cylinder and sometimes when you put your key in and turn it, it causes the plunger in the lock cylinder to push the switch assembly just far enough away where good contact isn't made. Next time it happens, try and pound with your fist the top of the steering column just above the key cylinder. If your car starts after that as mine does then you know the problem area.

rewire your starter with a high quality relay harness, bypass oem.

I would definitely go that route as using old used electrical parts is always dicey at best. I just wish the Nissan engineers had made a two screw attachment for the switch to the lock cylinder in the S13 like they did for the Maxima. Just a weak design IMHO. I have not replaced mine so far as it is a very infrequent problem and banging on the column so far always cures it for me.

Probably loose connections problem.. I had this same problem and it was wiring and loose problem. IF the battery seen 12 volts than it ok and if you turn the starter and it turn slowly then it probably about to go. |
