If this is for a sr20 you simply take the front cover off of the engine and pull the old main seal out, push the new main seal in. (Literally just using your fingers) Use a dab of silicone rtv around the perimeter of the seal. Reinstall front cover.
Maybe a KA is harder. But, the sr20 is literally so easy there would be nothing to write about.

Why go though all that effort of pulling the front cover? Pull the crank pulley off, thread two small wood screws into the front main seal by hand and wiggle it out and replace it with the new one. Just make sure not to nick the sealing surfaces.
Or you can pull the front cover along with draining the oil, pulling the lower pan, oil pickup and baffles and never having the top of the cover seal right again once you put it on.
