you didn't answer his question.

if you can put the car in gear with the engine off, but cannot put the car in gear with the engine running, then you either have a bad clutch, problem with the hydraulic system, or possibly a broken pivot ball.

do some investigation, and report back. we can't give you answers unless you give us good information.

it goes in all gears but it feels too smooth like if the car is off im pretty sure its the trans because the clutch pedal feels normal and theirs no leaks anywere??

is the shifter almost free feeling? your shifter might of just came out. take the boot off and crack open the shifter housing and check that out. but yea if the car is on and you can move the shifter around i'm gonna go with that. since usually you'll only blow out a gear and from hard driving.

I bet your clutch bolts backed off the flywheel.

Happened to me. same feeling.
the clutch still has pressure cause its pushing the plate, but its backed off the bolts enough not to engage.

check the shifter like i said. it could've possibly popped out. happened to me already. but if the ball is still in then you need a new trans.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the whole swap", but I've done more than one 240sx trans swap on just jack stands. Hell, Castro has even done clutch replacements at the track iirc.

What do you mean? You dont need to do anything to the engine, it does make it easier if you loosen the engine mounts a bit so the engine can tilt a little when you pull the tranny off.
