Just wondering..i know it started down in L.A. during the eighties..and it has more to do with the tuning of domestics then the actual messing around in japan..and so far it has somewhat digressed from the japanese tuning. (this is basically going for hondas) anyone got anything else to add?

My friends uncle had a hooked up 1990 DSM Eclipse Turbo AWD back in like 1991... It was tight. He was the first tuner I saw and really liked his ride. Nice exhaust system... 18 inch rims that were very wide.

I never looked under his hood, because I was too young and just thought the car looked nice.

I have seen it around here in la for a long time... This IS where it all began...

And how would Import Tuning have more to do with domestics??? Fill me in.

If I remember correctly it started with a guy by the name of miyoshi, and also the shoreline and paradise groups from in La...and the first cars to my knowledge were toyota corollas ) Now this was modled after the hashiriya from japan if i remember right..

there was an article i belive in scc that had some good history on its decent and evolution in the states..

Yeah, that's before corollas turned into the pieces of crap they are now. A friends mom has one and I swear that thing is horrible. For one thing, there is NOTHING special about it, it's just basically a blob, and another, it generates all these tiny problems over time, and eventually it's the most annoying car to drive....

The older ones rocked tho, I saw one in the parking lot of wal-mart and I couldn't believe it when it said corolla. It was a sports car!

never been a fan of the 240 and 280 z-cars, my buddy bought a 280z for 70 buck with the intent on restoration but gave it up after a week or so and dumped the car.

i seen a few nice ones but nothing that made me hard
