Porshe 924

Anyone know anything about these lima beans? Any potential with these cars? They look like shit but hey, so does the AE86 and that has some good potential...well......not speed wise but yeah.....help me yeah?!

Ps....I'm only asking cause my mom(the original owner) has a 77 924 that she wants me to use...she told me she had something done with the head, manifold, and carb....Ionno what but she said it made it "faster" yeah....

I have a Chevy Caprice and an S13, I am going to go onto a VW website and ask them who knows about the Subaru SVX... I mean, it's an odd/quirky looking car, but I hear they're pretty cool.

^^^ Odd, because I DO have an 89 Caprice wagon, you DO have a Ranger, this kid either has had or has done a LOT of research on the Supra, you and I both have S13s and I had an S14 before that, but-- er... Has he had an S-chassis? How out of place would it be to register on a 944 forum in comparison?

Good point Makoto, seeing as how I am now 25 years of age and can distintly recall seeing the S14 in magazines when I was in 10TH GRADE and desiring it quite heavily, while it was BRAND NEW, and my best friend's (whom I have known SINCE that time) mother has had her '90 coupe since then, selling him on his reason for having one now as well... At what point did you realize your own love for the S-Chassis.

i did certainly fall in love with the S-chassis after dying for a Z32 a few years ago and learning of its lightweight, underpowered, yet very capable frame that was a lilttle brother to the Z. this is the EXACT way i came to adore my 15 year old car that was a but a heap of neglected economy sports car just six months ago!

And what do you mean by death? Will this be a literal death, where one of us releases the mortal coil? Or will it be a figurative internet death where one of us simply gets "OWN3ED?" If the latter, I will use some of your own ammunition against you:

That's a pretty good history. It misses the 924S, though. The 924S was a later model 924 ('86+) equipped with the early 944's 2.5 8v engine, gearbox, and suspension. It was built mostly for the US market to give us a cheaper (under $20k in 1987) model.

924S models are highly sought-after by front-engine Porschephiles because the power to weight is awesome (the 924's narrower body is lighter than the 944).

I also believe the US power rating there is wrong. At least by mid-1977, power in the US model was up to 115hp. The main reason the US cars lost power was low compression for our crappy gas crisis era fuel.

A '77 924 would just be a standard 924, though, not an S or a Turbo. Most likely the mods on mom's car are just some bolt-ons. A lot can be done with the stock motor, surprisingly enough, considering it's just an old VW truck engine, 2.0L with 8 valves.

Here are some links:

Why dont you quit being a fag and just search? It doesnt take much work, you still sit on your ass.. the only difference is you have to think of .. ready for this... KEY WORDS to search for. But, think about it.. you'll get results! how exciting is that! Just think how many pages you can skim through!

But since you like to be spoon fed, I'll share with you THIS page I found many moons ago when *I* decided to learn a bit about the 924:

http://www.dimmer.net/hosted/944central/about/

My favorite quote from this link "True 924/944/968 fans have an honest appreciation for the series--the excellent handling, appearance, value, and in some cases, performance. If you do not possess this true appreciation, please consider these "924/944-inspired" options from the same era:

Mazda RX-7
Nissan 240SX
Toyota Supra "

funny, our 240SX is a competetor for that POS Porsche. hehe

whats even funnier is that you dont know OR just dont care that you mispelled Porsche. Are you sure you should even consider owning one? I cant imagine owning a car I cant spell right.
