Stock seat modification question

So I have had my s14 for over 4 years now and the headroom is really starting to get to me.. I wish I had no sunroof but I am not about to put some ghetto plug in there and try to gain room up top. This is a daily driver, mostly stock car and that is how I kinda wanna keep it.

With that being said, the only way that I have seen to gain room is to cut the cat hump out. I think I will eventually do this, but for the time being I have something that may work to just get the back of the seat down slightly, even .5" will help in my case.

Has anyone cut the stock brackets off at the back and made new brackets that sit higher to the frame? Looks simple enough.. I am going to get a spare rail and cut the end pieces off and weld some plate metal on and get the rear of the seat as low as I can.

Any other advice? The front is obviously as low as it can go without cutting out the cat hump.

My wait size is too large for a side mount rail (36") unless I make some kind of custom bracket and find a seat that may or may not fit.. and then I will also have issues using stock seat belts. I dont need fucking harnesses for a daily

You might try removing the springs from under the seat cushion so your butt sinks farther into the seat. That worked when I put Prelude seats in my Integra.

My buddy cut the rear mounts from my r32 GTR seat and made new ones so we could drop the back of the seat 1.5" or so. That was on the seat rails where they mount to the car. Had to do some extra modding to get the slider to slide all way back, but that was quick worth the angle grinder.

I have the same exact problem. Working on it as well. Especially when I'm wearing a helmet on the track.

Lol wut ^

@e1_griego you always seem to chime in on my "being too tall for a fucking 240 with a sunroof" posts its great. Have a look at the link in my first post, I assume those are the mounts that you are talking about?

Does anyone know if s13 seat rails are the same as s14... There are no s14 parts around here but I may be able to find s13 rails

Yeah it's a pain in the ass and discouraged me a lot when I first started playing with 240s.

1st thing I noticed when 1st sat in my S13 (w/ stock seats) is how damn low it feels. It's almost as if I'm sitting flat on the ground. Yet the ceiling is still not far up.

Come to think of it, I wonder if the PO fiddled with the rails. He was pretty tall.
