I Drained my diff yesterday and this is what came out:

Smelled like swamp gas. Almost made me puke.

indeed. diff fluid is the worst smelling shit. When I put my diff in, my girlfriend thought a large animal had crawled into our garage and died.

Gear Oil smells bad. I've done this before on my mustang, first time in the 240. Usally it smells better coming out then going in. This time it was like Alge or some swap growth was in there.

Yeah, you can't really get the smell off of clothing either. I got some gear oil on my shirt when I installed my hlsd and 10+ washes and almost a year later it still smells like good ole 75w90.

do i need to change diff oil out of a open diff? or is it not worth it? i wouldnt know i havent gotten to that part on my car yet

yeh i have open diff nd i know for sure the previus owners probably ddnt cahnge that, and i havnt changed it, so if it still is the original diff oil its been in there for 120 000 miles.
