Installing oem strut mounts on KW V3 S13
Hey everyone, quick quesion. Is anyone here running KW V3 coilovers on their S13?
I bought a set for mine, and as you might know they come without strut mounts since they are TÜV approved with OEM strut mounts. I tried fitting the strut mounts on my rear coilovers without much luck, it seems like the rubber piece that goes between the strut mount and the spring does not fit, however when I went on google images to check I see people have it there, I measured it and it's not even close to fitting. I'll post some pictures. First picture I found on google (zilvia sales thread) how they should look ![]() Second picture is my coilovers, in the box ![]() Third, fourth and fifth picture is the pieces I am using from the OEM coilovers ![]() ![]() ![]() sixth to eight show's how far of they are from fitting ![]() ![]() ![]() and the two last shows what it looks like when I put it together. ![]() Way to much clearance on the last picture.. ![]() |

I would actually contact KW. You can make sure you were supplied with the correct parts for your chassis, and troubleshoot any issues you may be having. Don't be shy, they have departments just for things like this. Take advantage of the opportunity to deal with the company directly, takes all the guess work out of it.

I came across a guy on Facebook today that have the same coilovers, so he would take pictures for me. Hopefully that will sort stuff out! ![]() I took a picture how I first thought it was supposed to be mounted (without the rubber piece) but felt it looked strange as well.. ![]() ![]() |

they MAY be able to help identify their parts and compare them with a kit they have in their warehouse but from my experience the s chassis kits are made to order (so i was told) and not in stock. |

wow, I wouldn't expect that from such a well respected company as kw. So I did a little googling and actually found a set that was for sale on zilvia. I'll include the picture for reference. You may want to shoot the user (Nismo JLo) a PM, if he's still around.

I sent him a PM, but he bought them used and the top hats were already installed. He also sold em so he can't check for me anymore ![]() I asked on a Facebook group yesterday and someone else with KW V3 on their S13 said they mounted it like this: Since the rubber piece is the isolator between the spring and the strut mount and the KW have the purple alu piece it's not needed, he used the rubber bushings above and under it and mounted it like I've done to this one. still not 100% sure if its right but I'll do some more research. Any imput? This is the pieces he was using ![]() I had to take of the sleeve since the rubber bushing fit perfectly on the coilver but not on the sleeve ![]() Sleeve was about 13mm ![]() bushing was about 10, I could maybe force it on with some lube but I don't think that was the intention for this part. ![]() What is looks like assembled, and torqued to spec (20nm) ![]() ![]() |

Any reason running the OEM rubber stuff over a traditional (lets say, like Tein) aftermarket cup?

Why I'm doing it you mean? Because they are TÜV with the OEM bits. |
