A strut is a type of shock. &nbsp;It is considered a strut as it acts as a structural positioning point of the suspension. &nbsp;You'll notice, in the rear, the shock has nothing to do with alignment or the position of the wheel relative to the suspension. &nbsp;On the other hand, up front, the spindle bolts directly to the strut...therefore, the strut must turn when you turn the wheel, and the compression of the strut affects the camber of the wheel. &nbsp;Stuff like that....
