Turbos And Wastegates??????

I was juss wondering....i'm debating on whether to get a 50 trim T3/T4 or a GTR28RS (Disco Potato) for my SR swapped 240sx....heres the dilemna i wanna be able to touge (uphill & downhill) so that means a quick spooling turbo (like the disco potato.......yet in the same sense i want a turbo that'll whoop ass on the str8s too....what i really want is a externally gated turbo...so i don't have to deal with boost creep and spike.......so here are the questions.....which turbo is better for the applications i desire (touge/str8 line)??? and is it possible to make the disco potato a externally wastegated turbo??? and if so....what would it take to make it externally wastegated????

disco potato is touge, t3/t4 for str8 line speed.
you could weld the wastegate flapper closed and get a manifold flanged for an external gate, but its more trouble than what its worth.
I had a similar setup on my old dsm w/ 16g and a turbonetics deltagate.
you colud always just get a bigger t28-based turbo like the gt2871r, similar to potato in size but trimmed for more top end.

Power

I know the SR20DET comes with a turbo and everything but if built properly the 2.4L Is better isn't it. More displacement can make more power.

The KA24DE is a really reliable engine. Why not build that instead of going through the wiring nightmare for the SR?

I figure blow up my stock engine with boost first then worry about another engine.

My friend spent $2400 on the sr motor and his stocker only had 45 thou on it.

Is it true that the KA24DE can handle 300WHP stock internals? If so why go with the sr?

Why? I mean get a boost controller and tune it. It won't spike.

Get a t3/t4 (or bigger) if you want a crazy highway car. Kits are getting cheaper.

I have a disco and I love it. Though my car is just a street car with fuel mods the potato will hold its own on the track...internally wastegated too.
