well this isnt for my car but for my gf integra. really no need to post this on a honda forum since a oil pan is a oil pan is a oil pan.

well she took her car to a oil change shop since i wasnt able to do it due to school. well her car recently needed an oil change and i did it for her. well it turns out i believe the guy used a air gun to tighten the bolt. why to i believe this? because it hard 3x harder to take out than usual.

well when i took out the nut, it turns out the nut ITSELF isnt stripped but the OIL pan where you screw the nut into is stripped. it is stripped well becuz when i put the nut back in it keeps spinning.

so im asking is there any way to fix this besides putting a whole new oil pan in? 95blue told me i can get an oversize nut and restrip it myself? anybody know more insight on this? need help asap

wow. that is retarded.

i'm no expert but i would guess the only thing you can do is rethread it for a bigger bolt or just swap the oil pan.

u're best bet.... is a new oil pan.... u can retap it and put a bigger drain plug, but what if fails?? there is a chance u can ruin the engine.... better safe than sorry....

its kool, i found the answer. dont have the time/money for a new oil pan, barely any time to even do my oil change. im gonna go with a bigger drain plug, its been done and works. if i have to replace the oversize plug twice, then gonna change the pan itself.

I remember going to Ace hardware back in the day, and they said you can use some type of epoxy to retain the use of the same size drain plug.

The epoxy will fill the gap which has been stripped, and shape itself to the pitch of the drain plug. Let it cure, and it should be as good as new.

You can also helicoil it like so:

my vote is for helicoil, i used it on my gsx-r oil pan, same thing happened.

its kool, turns out the fuck who fucked it up already replaced it iwth a single oversize bolt!! so i decided to just put the nut back on and seal it with rubber sealant and gonna replace the oil pan this friday

can you weld? is you can just drill it out, and weld in a new bung and screw for it, maybe a o2 sensor bung and just use and old o2 sensor... you get the idea.

or just drill it out and go with a slightly over size screw, but make shure you get a tap for that srcew/size/ thread pattern whatever to make threads so the screw will go in/out.

Just replace the oilpan. It's a HUGE pain in the ass, but if any of the above fails on your GF's car, the motor is toast. I just couldn't handle the constant checking of the oilpan to see if it's still holding up. Just do it right the first time...

Make the shop pay to have it redone at honda.
