Go ahead and find a new axle because hammering on it has crowned the end and the nut won't go back on. If you've left the nut on and tried hammering then buy a grinder too because the nut won't thread off anymore. After you get what you need, beat on it with serious force. I've seen some that I had to use a wedge bar and sledgehammer to break loose.

my usual method is an air hammer to the center dimple, or if one isn't available, then a 20lb sledge hammer and one full swing. One big swing doesnt seem to distort the end as bad as alot of little swings with a small hammer.

haha I have been trying to get my lsd in for a month now, keep getting axels from the junk yards and they are so fucked up, ive wasted 150 on axels alone, im about to be at the money mark of a nice used 2 way, oh well, good luck i think the air hammer sounds good but you dont have a compressor do you?
