sr20det backfire flames
hey guys, what causes backfires basically? letting off the throttle after getting on it & running rich?
My car shoots flames randomly, i'd like to be able to control them without getting a cat, hence be able to shoot the fire whenever i feel like it and not shoot fire when a cop is around.. I did do a search but all the people talked about were homemade exhaust flame shooters and crap.. I like the flames ![]() |

Just get the rev limiter to cutoff ignition when rpm gets to the top, so the extra fuel will maske u pop flame. And tune ur car with a basic safc. so it will not run rich when you drive normal and backfire when you don't want it to. better mileage too

The cause is based upon heat development of the system itself. When you have warmed the turbine up to a likely temperature, then go on to run closer to the red points on the speedometer, you will experience backfire, this occurs when letting off the throttle at that point.usually during highpoints of back pressure within the exhaust system, 3rd -4th gears. The Bee-R system simply allows you to control where that cut-off will be, 6200, 5800, etc etc. Even upon tuning the engine, incorporating a stright pipe will only excelerate the probability of backfire. increased fuel injection, and air intake. You're still going to get Unused gasoline coming thru that stright pipe.

Guys he's NOT looking for BEE-r. READ THE FUCKIN POST> He says his car shoots flames randomly . What you need is tuning. My car doesnt shoot flames. Mine's ECU. More advance timing= more time for fuel to burn. Timing naturally retards when you go off throttle, cause more unburned fuel to get past the engine and ignite in the exhaust system.
The only way the Bee-r with help shoot flames is if you hit the rev limiter. THen you'll have ignition cut with no fuel cut.

If you read his post, he wants to be able to shoot flames on command. Not whenever his car blows off. A bee-R is a sure fire way to shoot flames on command.

both of you all are right, i do need tuning because i dont want to run rich that im shooting flames at random but the beeR rev limiter would be nice because it would cut ignition rather than fuel = much safer condition for motor however i know the turbo does suffer some, but who cares turbos dont last forever, especially at 14psi daily
