BTW this is a daily driver, and assume I know nothing about the whole thing, (there is a lo I really dont know) oh yeah, and I did search, but i couldnt get anything on the matter one last thing, do i have to resurface the flywheel? my car has 221xxx mi on it... |

You don't actually have to resurface the flywheel, but from what I know, it is preferred though. Next, it all depends if you have mods on it or not on which clutch to buy. My car is a daily driver, and I don't have many mods on it, so I bought a simple Exedy clutch that I found on ebay, but I went to the place to pick it up. I'd say to get a simple Exedy one on Ebay for like $100 if you don't have much on it yet. The shops in LA too, so you could pick it up easily.

Id only resurface the FW if its light heat scores or slightly warped, otherwise you are taking away surface material for no reason. If its toasted toss it. You can always go with a reliable JWT clutch or a OEM Genuine Nissan one for $200 with bearing.

so , in terms of the clutch, im thinking about how much the labor cost is and/or how much of a pain in the ass is it to do at home?
I mean i've been shopping around and the least they ask is 200.. now, the thing is that ive been told that depending on the mods that I ahve(which BTW my engine is straight stock.. and the only mods I have are tein flex. and Im thinking about rewiring some stuff, not the harness but everything related to spark plugs and all that so that I could get some extra power.. with minor mods.. so, any more info on those would be nice, like a clutch model/kit and as for the flywheel, .. it slips a lil bit when engaging so donno.. if i have to resurface it.... BTW the flywheel is stock too.. so donno, help me out.. BTW what do you meand by JWT ? |

go oem replacement.......... i just dont see why ppl spend lots of dollars on stage clutches when u know theres no power really added..... its all driver preference... or how u drive i should say........ oem replacement and do it ur self... its cake... u might need a new slave.. $150 plus 3-4 hours... depending how experienced u are

once you hit 200hp, MAYBE you should upgrade clutches. It'd just be a waste, or just braggin rights to have a Stage2 COOLO clutch of death when you are still pushing a weak 160hp, if even. Ebay! 108 picked up for an exedy stage OEM! uberLeet!

nopionline.com and buy a centerforce stage 2, 200 bux then go to kragen and get a remanufactured flywheel, 40 bux + core charge, which you get back when you return your flywheel, finally a throw out bearing from nissan is 40 bux.
this is the setup im running on my car, and I think its great, not spending too much for a clutch on a KA, clutch pedal pressure is perfect. It feels pretty stock, but still grabs... and ive been clutch kicking it in events, and it still grabs good, no chatter.

I would resurface the flywheel, with that many miles it is probably necessary.
Depending on how/where you drive a stock clutch could be a bad idea unless you want to replace it again very soon. Replace slave and mater cylinders too. Daily drivin'- stock or similar replacement track of any kind (especially drift)- something aggressive may be necessary even on stock power, id suggest rps as far as brand - they rock

Like I stated earlier, OEM clutch will hold every mod you can do to the KA minus Turbo kits....stock clutch can hold quite a bit since it was designed for a torquey KA motor.

exedy oem replacment clutch slips on me a little when clutch kicking dry pavement... I expect it to be about 2/3rds done after my first event at limerock ct this august and ive had it for less than a year. I want an ACT street/strip... normal feel organic disk, holds 380tq, not stiff enough to beef up my left leg.
and by all means use some scotchbrite on yr flywheel with it apart, get it to a good fresh metal surface so the new clutch can break in properly. |

I was happy with my fidanza flywheel, really liked how the car drove with that and an OEM ebay clutch
no problems stalling either.

Centerforce sucks. JWT is expensive no? Just go get a stock flywheel and send it out to be lightened/balanced for $150. Drift freaq posted on a thread about a place to get it done for $150. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...t=280zx+clutch
