SR Differences between s13 blacktop and s13 redtop blocks?

My question is are s13 blacktop and s13 redtop blocks identical in all ways? Such as: oil passages, coolant passages, etc.

The reason is that I have an s13 blacktop head and I need to find a block and I'm trying to decide if I need to buy an s13 blacktop block, and not a redtop.

Thanks any help is greatly appreciated.

SAME BLOCK BUDDY. Im running a S13 blacktop head on a redtop bottom end. Hell you could even use a S14 or S15 bottom end.

S13 S14 S15 are all exactly the same bottom end, only difference is that the waterpump on the S14 and S15 are different, the S13 waterpump acts as a direct upgrade to the S14 and S15 especialy at higher RPMS

i dont wanna sound like an ass but theres a reason y theres a search button. srswap.com or heavythrottle.com will pretty much answer ur questions about SRs.

Side note, i think the mods should start locking up threads if ppl can easily search for what they are looking for. For their ignorance, they should just get their thread locked.

I think you guys just need to chill a bit. If the mods think this post needs to be locked, thats their discretion, not yours. I mean i think this subjects one of those things that needs to be discussed more often. I mean, shoot, i didnt even know bout the water pump thing. Plus instead of people posting about how somebody needs to "search" instead posting...why dont you just not post bout them searching and stop wasting bandwidth yourself buddy!!! Theres a reason there are mods in here.

- S13 Red/Black tops are not exactly the same. Blacktops have casting makes (lines) on the front of the engine. The blacktop's oil pickup is also slightly modified from the redtops in order to help prevent (but not cure) the infamous oil starvation issues.

- S14 waterpump is the upgrade to S13 pump IIRC, not S13 to S14. The S13's pump is crap, it basically stops moving at high RPMs and is the main reason why people have overheating problems.

Of course you have found this out if you searched.
