89 240sx Ticking Noise

Hi Im New to the Forum... I thought if i came here... other people may have knowledge as well... On my 240sx(KA24(e))...When i start the car...its all good...But when i accelerate... there seems to be this TICKING noise... It goes along wit the acceleration...the harder i step..the louder and faster it TICKs... would ne1 know this symptom??? I have tried to search on YAHoo and stuff...and all i come up with... is like a TIMing CHain Guide... Now...I dont wanna take something apart...and like remove nonsense stuff without ne knowledge...oh and im on a POORBOyS budget...hahha which means im a DIY guy...So...Plz dont tell me to go to a shop...=) and any help would be NICE! Thanks for reading!

you have sohc timing chain rattle. it's not a matter of removing the timing chain guide. that's a dohc fix.

here's a link to a good faq. it has a list of all the parts you need to fix sohc rattle.

you want to fix it yourself? here's what you need to do:

1. download a factory service manual (search for the link on zilvia), study the timing chain overhaul.
2. buy the parts and tools
3. spend a weekend or two doing the timing chain removal & install.

please note the link has info on both DOHC and SOHC rattle; naturally easy dohc fixes dont pertain to your situation.
