I have a few questions. I just ordered redline oil for tranny and LSD in hopes of getting rid of my shifting problems and the clunking apparently comming from my differential. Is this something I can do myself, or should I have a shop change the tranny and LSD oil? I just read you can pour tranny fluid in by takeing the shifter out and puring it in there. Is that the only way to do it, cauz my OBX is REALLY in there. I used a rubber mallet to wack it in and then locktight on the screws. Still have no clue how to change LSD oil.
Do you think this will fix the problems? I've heard there is a known problem with our tranny's, how about our LSD's?
I really want to stop haveing to shift like an old woman in order to avoide shreading gears.

Edit: Car has 55,000mi BTW

clunking? hmm, it's not the driveshaft? do you have LSD? you can do it yourself, it is easy, but if you have a funnel and a hose you can fill it using the filler hole, if you think its too much of a hassle, you can take it to the dealer. They only charged me $20 to put it all in ( I didnt have access to floor jacks/lift or any of that stuff, and I have B&M shifter, so no luck)..

hope it helps

Be careful using the Redline Shockproof Tranny oil.  We have had problems with it screwing up the sycros in the Nissan tranny.  Try Mobil 1 synthetic instead.

You need to get he car on four jack stands.  There is a 1/2 drive plug on the driver side (US) of the tranny.  Take a piece of 5/8 hose and stick in the hole. (this is after you have drained the old fluid out of the plug on the bottom) run the other end up along the firewall near the brake fluid resevoir.  Take you Mobil1 and stick the nozzle in the hose and let it pour in.  Mobil makes the easy with a pointed funnel type cap, don't need a funnel.  it will take about 2 3/4 quarts, or until it begins to spill out of the hole.  Get a catch pan or you will make a mess in your driveway.  Put the plug back in nice and snug, you are done.  Repeat with diff in the same fashion.

Don't dick with the shifter, do it right. :!:

As for the "clunking" I would roll under the rear end and inspect, drive axles and bushings back there.  Also check motor mounts and exhaust hangers.  The other thing to check is the front radius ot TC rods. These are liquid filled, at 55k they may need replaced, they do make a clunking noise if the are worn out.

Yep, we have had the same problem with Redline in Nissan Tranny's.  It seems to gum up on the syncros.  I would suggest swapping your oil out for some Mobile1 sythetic.  May help your problem.

I have the same problem... still trying to figure out what it is. I am almost positive the clunking noise is coming from the rear. I did notice one of the bushings cracked in the front TC rods so they do need replacing though. PDM Racing has them with whiteline bushings for $95 each

redline mt-90 synthetic 75w90 tranny oil and 75w90 synthetic differential oil goes in tomorrow...I'll post back on what it changes/how it feels.
justified, brand new adjustable tein t/c rods are 207 shipped with pillowball's instead of bushings from the group buy here on zilvia. 95 each is an awful price for what you get...although I think its actually 95 for both from pdm.
