since the search doesnt work..i went back about 20 pages to try to find how to take certain parts out but i give up...

does anyone know how to take the shift boot out cleanly?
also how do you take out the dash piece that has the cruise controls and the light dimmer? and the vents on the dash...does that pop right off?

i desperately need help please!!

yeah i got a 98, thanks anyways...

well i was able to get the vents on the dash out. it just took a lil prying out and with the shift boot also...i broke some plastic out from the boot but theres nothing hot glue gun cant fix.

the only part i cant get out is the part on the dash with the cruise buttons...so if anyone can tell me id appreciae it.

It sounds like your installing a stereo to me... except the shift boot thing. Are you trying to remove the actual leather boot or the plastic piece around it? If its the plastic piece, just grab the insides and pull up and kinda forward. As for the vent piece, just point your vents down (makes it easy to get your fingers in there) and pull/wiggle straight out. dont pull to hard or you will rip the wires out. (the piece doesn't come all the way out either...it just kinda hangs there because of the wires...but it should be enough to get to whatever it is your trying to do)

OK, I dont remeber how exactly I took it out, but I just looked at it(it was sitting in my closet), and the dash part with the CC buttons is held in by two screws on top and two snap clips on the bottom.

The dash vents just popped out with a bit of careful prying if I remeber correctly.
Unless you mean the center vent piece which just pulls out and you have to disconect the plugs on the back if you want to take it out completely. It has two snaps and an alignment pin on top, and two snaps on the bottom left and right sides.

As for the shift boot, if you just need to get the plastic trim up, just grab it and pul up carefully, itll just pop out. If you are trying to pull the leather out, havent tried that myself. If you mean the lower, rubber shift boot, it is held on w/ 4 screws.

Hope this helps,
Greg

yeah i was able to get the vents on the dash out as well as the boot but damn that piece with the cc controls...

basically i unscrewed everything and it will come up off the dash but...it wont be outta there without bending the center piece over the steering wheel. im scared that if i force it out over the steering wheel, im gonna break it...or is there another way to do it?

by the way...no im not puttin in a stereo, just painting my interior...im all done and the parts are drying right now and thats the only part i need left to paint...cant wait until i put it on.
