car: '97

I have an HKB hub w/ NRG quick release, and my Airbag light had been lighting up.
Usually, I just check the resistor inside the hub, reset the airbag light with the pinswitch button, and its fine. This time, however, i tried it repeatedly and it would not go off, even after i pulled the negative on the battery to reset the ECU.

Frustrated, I popped off the instrument cluster and pulled the bulb for the ABS light. Problem solved.

new problem: after i bolbed in the instrument cluster again, my ABS lights tarted blinking (no patter, straight blinking). I figured i'd just pull that bulb too, but I couldn't find it in the back of the instrument cluster.

I also don't know if this is a side effect, but at night my instrument cluster seems dimmer than before.

Could I have fucked up a wire or sensor somewhere behind the cluster? This seems wierd to me, since i DO NOT have ABS.

If you don't have ABS, but you have an ABS light, doesn't that mean that either you or a previous owner removed the ABS system? There are sensors that detect when something in the ABS actuator malfunctions, etc. Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but I'm not surprised you'd be having trouble with that light when the ABS has been removed.

i've never touched the ABS system, one of the thigns i looked for was the ABs sensor equipment in the engine bahy near the firewall. I"ve also never experienced the telltale brake pedal pulsating that comes with ABS equipped cars.

If your car truly does not have ABS and never did, the bulb could be misplaced (or it's a different cluster than OE) and it's lighting up an icon that's actually something else. Say for instance on an auto car you'll have an OD off light, manuals don't have the bulb there but the icon still exists. Find out what spot it's at and check with another car to see what icon is present there, but I'm betting it's nothign to worry about.

If your car has or had ABS, you've already answered it, there's a fault code that's been stored.

I'll check the cluster again, but it's wierd this never showed up before until i tried to pull the airbag bulb.
