S13 REdtop coolant temp sensor.

So I have isolated my idling/running rich/stuttering/bogging problem to my coolant temp sensor. But help me confirm a couple of things.

It is the sensor for the ECU, not the gauge cluster correct? Actually, I am sure of this because my coolant temp gauge on my cluster functions.

I checked the FAQ for SRs, it says I can use a temp sensor out of a ..
Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor:
'91-94 B13 Sentra SE-R
? Is that correct? This is the one I need right?

Quote:
Water Temperature Sensor
Sentra - Goes according to what year your SR is.
Differences are in 91-94 and 95-98
Sentra: 91-94 have a rectangleish plug while 95-98 have a slightly slimmer, more box looking plug.
Redtop and midyear S13 blacktops use a z32 sensor. I believe you should go by year as well if buying a Z32 sensor.
Late S13 blacktops use the Sentra sensor.
KA water temp sensor doesn't work, or at least it didn't for me. (S13 98 Blacktop)
or is this right?

All I know is, Phase2 sells the sensor for $29.99 plus $8 shipping, while I can get it local thru my nissan guy.

So.... z32 sensor? sentra sensor?

Redtop? Blacktop?

That will determine which sensor you need, per the FAQ.

The ECT Sensor has nothing to do with the gauge as you surmised; it simply tells the ECU what temperature the coolant is currently at, and helps to adjust the fuel mixture accordingly.

yes you want to replace the sensor with a red and black wire coming from it... that is the one that goes to your ECU... you have a redtop... so the KA one would work (according to your year SR) or the 91 b-13 sr20de sentra will work as well... thats the one im using.
