My car dies

I was on my way home from a club around 2am early Saturday morning. I noticed my gauge cluster lights weren't as bright as always. I didn't think anything of it, just thought it was my imagination. Halfway home, I see a CHP unit on the side of the freeway, and me going 80, I pressed the brakes to slow down a bit. At that point, my headunit turns off. I thought to myself it was just a loose connection with the wiring of the headunit. I get on the offramp and downshift into 2nd. I press the gas but noticed immediately a lack of power. I also can't go past 3k RPMs. I shift into 3rd and I also cant get past 3k RPMs. I try flooring it, but it's the same. My car starts slowing down and then just shuts off. I put it into neutral so it can roll to the side of the road, where I got it towed back to my house. It won't start anymore. The starter clicks, but it doesn't turn over.

What the hell is wrong with my car? Before I bring the battery to get it charged and checked, and before I get another starter and alternator, I just wanted to ask you guys if you experienced this problem before, so it'll save me some headache.

Thanks. Sorry for the long post.

When my integras battery died,it just clicked when I tryed to start it at first, then didn't make any more noise. Do you have an alarm system thats clicking,or is it actually the starter? My alarm was the one doing the clicking come to find out later. Good luck,me thinks check your alt/battery. Unless your battery is old,it usually wont die unless the alt isn't working right.

My s13 alternator is kicking fine(even with that damned system in there, fucking hurts my ears),I've killed the alt(no system, way to go honda),and the battery in the acura, and now I think something else is going wrong..

GL

EDIT: wont go over 3k? Doesn't the ecu 'safe mode' do that, like when your not running a MAF?

I agree, Alternator...then recheck all of your wiring to all the aacessories you are running. Are you running a Ground System? Good Idea to with aftermarket electronics..you dont need a full kit like alot run. Only really need Two..One to the Intake Manifold, and one to the otherside of the car but have a stop on the bloack somewhere...run it off your Negative battery cable...

here is a pic of mine

I found out what the problem was. The terminal that connect the alternator to the wiring harness was all corroded. I was loosening the nut that held it to the alternator and it just snapped off like nothing. It was green and brittle.

I went to Autozone and got a new terminal and now my car runs great now.
