Optima dies so fast???

hello i have a problem, i been serching and dont see nobody have a problem like this one...

i have a optima batery, is 6 months old and worked fine but 2 months ago i striped my interior and take off all my stereo system, (in some point the car started to shake when i start runing slow in 1st gear) i check all the cables i check the voltage and all looks fine 12 volt then the car is turn off and around 13.6 when is on...

i checked everithing else, cables, sparkplugs, injectos, and all looked fine

when i reinstall the stereo i dont get power, it only sound fine when the car was on and it turn off it self sometimes when i release the acelerator on the stop lights, that on off problem really broke my amp, is a very small 5 channel amp had 10 in bass only...

the problem now is if i dont turn off the car for a couple of days the batery dies and have to recharge it...

my questios, that is it??? the optima is defective or last long only 6 months or what???

there is some way to "aconditionate" the batery like the R/C ones???

oh also forgot i have my battery relocated behind the rigth side seat, i have a 0 guage cable and all looked ok for 4 months till i took off the stereo O_o

any sugestions???

Go through and systematically check everything.

* How is the battery? Optima should be good, but all things do fail. Get it checked to see if it's still holding charge.

* How is the charging system? Check both low and high voltage output. Most people will only check the low side and call it done, but sometimes it can put out too much voltage, which isn't good for the battery either.

* If those 2 things check out, then you have a drain somewhere in the system. You'll have to get a wiring diagram and a multimeter. Then start checking all your grounds and connections.

The 3rd step is the hardest since you have to literally go through every single circuit. Good luck!

i had an optima. Lasted 9 months or so. And when it died...no waring at all. That morning it started like normal, that night it was dead. And there was nothing else wrong with the car that would cause the battery to go dead....go figure.

Yah 13.6 is on the low end of alternator charging voltage. Should be closer to 14. Alternator would be suspect to me as well.

I've had one in my S14 (Optima Redtop) for ~5 years or more...never had an issue.

Me: Runs off to go knock on wood...! Hehe.

My S14 charges at around 13.6v, it's been that way since I got it(1.5 year). Optimas are very picky on how you charge them. They will not accept a fast charge. You have to charge them in series with another battery over night. Is your battery a deepy cycle? or just a red top? Deep cycles will go through several drains and refills. While, the red top(black casing) can only with stand very little complete drain outs(if any).

I had a deep cycle marine battery(blue top with grey casing). Worked great, till I totalled my previous car .

when that happen i recharge it with one of those recharge kits at 10 amps for a couple of minutes and start the car (mostly cause i was already late for work hehe)

there is a way to fix it, if is the batery bad? os is done?? i remember old bateryes on the celphones and the R/C cars dont recharge fine if u recharge it fast... there is a way to fix it like complete discharge it and then recharge it slowy thru the nigth???

Auto batteries do not build memory like RC/Cellphone batteries do the reason those did that is the compacatance material Nickel-Cadnium (NiCd) used in those batteries has a memory issue thus the reason for the cell industry switching to Lithium Ion (L-ion or Li) which has no memory problems. Auto batteries use a Lead/sulferic acid matrix therefore no battery memory.
