knock sensor

ok well i finally got it off, but heres my ?. on the plug that goes into the main harness, there are 2 pins and to wires ,i followed from those pins down the pigtail towards the sensor. when i look at that plug, i only find one pin and one wire going into it, with the second wire stripped and wrapped around the first one. does the second wire need to be hooked up? please help, daily driver down.
