what carbon fiber hoods do you reccomend for good fitment
i have a vis oem style on my kouki front, but i am changing to s15 front thus i need another hood. i have been semi satisfied with my vis hood, but actually thought my ebay cf hood i had before it fit better, but just didnt have the same quality of cf and didnt have rolled edges.
i would love an oem metal s15 hood, but availability sucks and for the price carbon fiber is cheaper. so what carbon hoods do you guys suggest? thanks in advance! -devon

The thing that struck me the most is the weaving. It's so tight and the edges are so smooth. No sharp edges and no fibreglass composites. Very nice quality. I've decided to go with Seibon for my car, but I need to hold off until the V8 is in ![]() If you need to see in person, I'm sure Robbie can show you a few samples. They always have some in the shop. |

My VIS fits perfect, so I'm partial to them already. Seibon or anything imported will be a great fit as well, but the price is where you have to draw a line.

My VIS fits 99% at best. I do have a strange gap under my headlight, and can't seem to get rid of it.
I hear Seibon is good. Back in the days Fiber Image was the best.

I would love to say pick my product! But the S15 hood is not ready until next month i'm afraid. My line of hoods are constructed differently from all others. Using alluminum honeycomb core and a choice of glass or carbon. We actually vacuum form the top and bottom skins over the original hood as a mold. This is to keep as close to original shape and dimension as possible. And at just under 8lb's with mounting hardware, it is really for weight reduction customers that race seriously. Then the top and lower skins are bonded to a 1/4" thick sheet of alluminum honeycomb. This has always been the choice of Formula One teams and actually much of todays military aircraft. The edges of the top skin roll around to the bottom skin. Seibon has some great parts from what i see at shows. But my hoods are, as i said designed for serious weight reduction. I'm not the cheapest, just the most performance oriented.

No date on S13 hatch yet. I am doing just hoods and doors for the next two months. I will be updating my website this weekend, just haven't had much time this month. The prices will be on my site this weekend also. I don't want to post that here because it isn't really appropriate for me to solicit on someone's thread. I just wanted to let you know that there are options for hoods. Most hoods are made just one way. Carbon fiber has gotten a bad rap because the hood makers do not know how to use it properly for weight reduction purposes. Hell, fiberglass for that matter. I am trying to change that by putting out some well designed parts for the guys who have been there and done that with crappy hoods, and just want a great part that wont start shrinking on them when they get it in the sun!

Yes we are making vents. But not how you would normally expect them to be. The other interesting result of this hood design is that because it is only 1/4" thick, it leaves a large air opening up towards the windshield. I am going to measure that this weekend and get the total square area. But it will be as large or larger than the average area of a typical vent on other hoods. Very different from typical construction. And since my car is being set up for time trials, this aspect is where i am most interested in with maximum air cooling. I don't expect to sell a ton of parts, i have another business making CF picture frames that has eclipsed the money i make with car parts. So i am continuing to do this from a personal perspective because i enjoy designing products. Thanks for the interest, really.
