The rear deck does add some support to the car, plus a portion of the deck holds the trunk lid hinges in place. Taking out the rear deck is possible. You will need to drill out some spot welds to remove it. Unless you plan on running a cage, I would not recommend removing it.

and whats the benifit of taking all that out??? JUST so you can fit some tires in there? cause your to lazy to jut put some in the back seat and some in the trunk... maybe you should just never buy a coupe...

ps: make that ish smaller. its too big on my 1970 15" NEC monitor. I'm running 640x480, windows 3.11 baby.

People need to stop gutting street cars to "save" weight. As soon as i buy one of these so called "DRIFT" cars that are gutted to "save" massive amounts of weight, i put all that interior back together. Car looks, and feel 100x better inside. Track only cars gut the piss out of them.

My coupe has the funky smell. i think water stayed in my carpet when i washed it. then my GF decided to pour this white powder shit all over it and that didnt help the smell but made a fucking annoying mess.

i took out the whole piece from the spot welds, including the top piece where the rear latches bolt to. I had to fab a rear firewall and keeping the original metal would have had too many holes in it.
first welded a new top piece under the original metal with the dimples in it and then built an aluminum wall from 4 pieces to match the lines of the rear wheel wells. It will be bolted to the body with stainless steel sheet metal screws for ease of removal. The shock towers stay inside the cockpit for easy damper adjustment.
Here's a phone pic. If you all want more i can take some nicer ones.

yes they do, therefore DON'T remove it unless you got some sort of reinforcement back there (such as a cage)
