I like Barrilito better than both corona and modelo... I dont think they have it here though. Its made by modelo brewery but slightly different taste.

Indio is a really good dark mexican beer IMO.

Or bohemia Obscura

indio tastes somewhat like negra modelo and both of the bohemias share similar flavors as well.

Good thread. Here are some good ones I've had recently.

I had some Young's Double Chocolate Stout last night, and a BJ's Oktoberfest and Porter two nights ago. Good stuff. I love fall/winter beers.

Pliney the elder, very nice! Not much a fan of Autumn Maple, which is odd as it's the only Bruery one I don't like.

Pliny is freakin' impossible to find around me. There is one liquor store that's probably 20 miles away that has it but they limit one per customer because one of their competitors allows you to buy as many as you want, and if they did the same they'd never have it in stock.

Pliny the Younger is hard to find!

I can Elder at a local 'whole foods' often.
They serve that on tap at a lot of places in Los Angeles.
Have it often at Fathers Office, it's great with their burger.

That's what I get for living in south county.

I've never had Pliny the Younger but I want to try it. It's only on tap in certain restaurants right?

Hmm, I'm drinking it right now and wouldn't really know what to compare it too. It's clear though, no sediment floatin' around. A little sweet but the bottle is already gone lol

I would also love to try Pliny

from what ive heard besides it being on tap at only a few places, you can only get them in growlers(?)/glasses once a year at their brewery.

Last Night: Shawnee Craft 'Nu Bruin' a Oak aged black lager, and a Octoberfest

Came home, and had a 2007 Mad Elf 22oz to celebrate a friends recent job landing (plus I didn't want her wine haha)

THat's the impression I was under as well. Glad us greater Philly people can get it once in a while too.

Personally: Give me Elder over Pliney and (gasp) give me Blind Pig before either of them. Just saying!

Had an interesting weekend. Tried some breweries out around Watkins Glen NY (was up for a track day)

Horseheads: Always a decent place. Their pumpkin beer is great, the jalepeno beer isn't my cup of tea, but overall they make good stuff. B+
Two Goats: Their Cream Ale had an odd taste, but was nice. IPA was very malty. B+ for both
Market Street: Meh. Their Black IPA was decent, but nothing really outstanding. B-, as nothign was super repulsive

Random stop: Finger Lakes distillery. Not for me at all, some of those spirits were like drinking rocket fuel lol.

Haha, Elder over younger. At least on draft.

And as before, I'll take Blind Pig over both, and dare I say Sculpin over that

Is it any good? I have been meaning to try it but I just haven't for whatever reason haha.

Also, what are some good Belgian beers to try? I had one at a place called Wurstkuche in Los Angeles called Konings Hoeven and liked it.

Wurstkuche carries a decent mix of Belgian ales & German lagers.
Kinda strange that they don't carry any American beers
(PBR doesn't count, that shits not beer).
Great hotdogs though!

I've tried maybe 20 of their beers so far.
Usually I get the Delerium Tremens or Duchess de Burgione (SP?) with a bockwurst kraut dog.

Oh, not sure how far it got sent out but has anyone had the new dogfish head, victory and stone beer? Called Saison du Buff, brewed with sage parsley rosemary and thyme. its a bit different, really crisp and you can taste the herby-ness of it. To me it wasnt terrible but to others they said it was like drinking a christmas tree.

I had the dogfish head variant so im not sure if they're all similar tasting.

Stone>Victory>Dogfish IMO in regard to how they taste. I recently did a 'group tasting' with the 3 in bottle (after having the 3 on draft) and felt as if the results were the same.
