I'm feeling generous.

There is no 240 coming out as f right now. There have been rumors literally for years (hence the 127 pages. And I didn't start this thread even close to when rumors originally started swirling) that a new 240 is coming.

Most of us are franky SHOCKED that Nissan hasn't announced anything yet given the hufe success of the Gen Coupe and the even bigger success of the FRS/BRZ.

Wait... The Genesis Coupe is being regarding as a huge success? I like them but I didn't realize that. I thought I was in a small minority with that one.

From Hyundai and consumer's perspective, yes, a huge success. Critically and commercially.

Read reviews. No one criticizes the Gen Coupe the way people do on this forum. It's a success. The minoirty...yes, on here. The Gen Coupe and Sedan have done EXACTLY what they intended, Is it a perfect car? No, but neither is a 911 or GTR. There are always critics.

Its not just this forum. Its everywhere, man. The GC 3.8L was appreciated by the public when it first came out, but the 2.0T's potential seemed largely ignored by ppl not familiar with turbo power. Even though both improved a lot, no single reviewer seems to be able to give an opinion of the cars without overshadowing it with the FRS/BRZ. Those twins really stole alot of wind from Hyundai's sails. Thats why I was wondering if the GC was still considered a success, in light of the way reviews have essentially emasculated it in the Toyobaru comparisons.

Even though the GC beats the FRS/BRZ in every quantifiable metric, every review I've seen said they's still pick the 86 instead. Crazy world we live in when that brute of a car, the GC, is the underdog to the 86.

I just don't see that many Gen Coupe's here in California Mel. In fact I can safely say that I am starting to see more FRS's and I definitely see more 350Z's than than Gen Coupes. Hell I see more Genesis 4 doors. Oh and I am right next to Ktown which has a huge Korean population as well who tend to buy Korean cars.

Maybe they did good from Hyundai's perspective of what they expect to sell but I just don't see the numbers in actual cars on the road .

I should add I do live in Los Angele's which is one of the major car capitals of the country in the amount of cars on the road and types of cars.

I am just not buying your possible media driven perspective I don't see it in reality.

The car isn't a flop. I read an article years and years ago that their intention was to have steady sales. but the numbers for the coupe were not as important as the sedan. And that's why they don't separate the coupe and sedan's numbers. Because how the pair sells as a whole is their focus. In that sense it's doing fine. Essentially the sedan is there so they can keep the coupe around, even if it doesn't sell as well as the FRS/BRZ, which it certainly is not.

See now there you are putting words in peoples mouths Mel. I never said the car was a flop nor did simmode . We just said we did not see being an absolute stunning success like you are talking about.
LIke I also said from Hyundai's perspective it might have been a success except we really have no way of knowing absolute numbers because they lump them in with the Sedan.

That is pretty much like someone saying Android phones sell more than the Iphone. Which is true except when you break down individual Android phone sellers the only one that comes close to the Iphone is the Samsung Galaxy which of recent times trades places for the lead every other quarter. LOL
But you know what? They have actual numbers though again Apple reports actual sales and Samsung just reports items shipped, not actual sales.
Oh those crafty Koreans, lets just report stock shipped vs stock actually sold, that way our numbers look better.

Now when it comes down to actual sales I really doubt the Genesis was the kinda of Success that the S30 240Z was. Or the MIata as well both of which exceeded the manufacturers wildest expectations out of the gate and had waiting lists for the cars in the first year.

Now I don't think that happened with the Genesis and I can tell you there were a lot more Miata's and Z's on the road in the first year of those cars than a Genesis. In fact I can pretty much say the same for the 350Z.

Sorry Mel but whatever stastics you state unless you have concrete numbers you are deducing an opinion as we are too.
Our opinions vary and its based on what I have seen in real life. Rather than what someone in the media has chosen to write, without actual numbers to back it up.

Hell the first year 240sx sold 60k in coupe and fastback.

As did the second year. The S30 Z 60k in its first year and was backordered. The first three years of the S30 did over 170k in the U.S. alone. I believe Miata numbers blew those numbers right out the water as well.

Yeah I didn't say anyone said it was a flop, just saying out loud that it isn't.

Sales numbers themselves are not the only factor in a cars success. Again, this was literally their first attempt at a RWD coupe. For the most part they hit the nail on the head. If they are happy selling 29,000 and their goal was 29,000, it's, for the most part embarrassed by the enthusiast community and the general public, then that equates to it being a success.

The fact that we are seeing more RWD concepts shows that they are happy with the results and looking to improve on it. They could easy axe that car if it wasn't a success, in their eyes, given the success with FWD economy cars, Mid Size sedans, and CUV's over the last 5 years.

I for one LOVE my Gen Coupe, sure its not that quick, but its a fun little turbo'd RWD car, with the potential to make a LOT of power. I don't see why people hate on it all the time, just because its not crazy fast from the factory? The motors are known to hold a lot, and you do simple turbo upgrades they're monsters. And now with the refresh, 279 HP from the factory on a turbo'd motor, LSD, all the little goodies you could want, its an awesome package IMO

That is not entirely true. Hahaha

We do not favor Hyundai nor Kia just because they it's from Korea. Most time we try to avoid them but sure, people started buy them more and have more faith in Hyundai since few years back when they came up with Genesis and all.

Don't get my comments wrong... I absolutely love the GC. I'm waiting until ppl start returning their leased 2013 2.0T's and then I may get one. The earlier ones are nice too, but the later interiors are so much better and I really want one equipped with BlueLink.

I was just doubting the success of them since they've gotten overshadowed by the FRS/BRZ. But I would choose the GC 2.0T over the 86 in a heartbeat. Anyday of the week. All that said, I probably will end up with a lightly used sport truck plus some disposable little cheap drift slut instead, like a turbo Z31. But I'll continue to pine away for newer cars like the GC coupe, used 335I's and turbo Z4's. All so very sexy, IMO.

LOL Mazda has sold about 1M Miata's, they blow A LOT of cars' sales numbers out of the water then kick them while they're on the ground. Those things sold/sell like new iPhones or crack. Same thing. Whatever.

I LOVE how that looks. But it's just going to be some stupid, shitty electric BS that I could give two fucks about. Again, Nissan ignoring the true enthusiast market.

Scion pondering move upmarket?
^That could be cool. I'd really expect a sedan from the FR platform like the engineers wanted if that happens. Sort of true successor to the Altezza.

Either those headlights are huge and reach way back over the fenders or that thing has a long front end. Maybe both. I don't see them replacing the leaf already so I'll be surprised if it's another electric economy car.

It does look like a long roof, but everything about that pic screams electric.

I still feel like it's Nissan saying "fuck you" to us.

While it's kinda off topic, I've always had a great appreciation for Audi. Everything they put on the road stems from advancements they've made from their racing programs.

That being said, I've heard rumors that they might follow up on the concept of the R8 V12 TDI and head towards production...and we'll still be waiting for the new S-chassis. :/

Why not simply call them Toyotas?

It's official. Nissan is lost. They don't know what their image is supposed to be or who actually wants their product. We've waited and waited for something truly good from them in any category and they just keep pumping out WTF.

I still love some of their past products but I don't expect to see something good from them again for a long while if ever.

Probably not for a while. Every new car they make is not a car we would want.

Yeah, because the R35 and 370z TOTALLY suck.

Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it's not good...
