IMO the displacement of a rotary should be calculated by how many times it fires in a 720* rotation as that is the most realistic way to compare it to a traditional piston type engine. For a while they ran 13b's in Formula Atlantic cars. We ran the Toyota 4AG and this topic was of constant debate. Luckily they restricted the hell out of the rotaries as time went on and they weren't consistently reliable enough to finish races. Speaking from experience I can say that they had VERY legitimate reasons to outlaw the rotaries. It was no sort of corruption, it was logical due to how the displacement was calculated, which was not a realistic way to calculate the displacement.
Exactly. It's similar to the AMA's ruling on 2-stroke vs 4-stroke. The arbitrary ruling was a 4-stroke can run twice the displacement. 15 years ago that may have been fair, but technology has caught up. The ultra-high tech 4-strokes with the benefit of engine-braking out class the 2-strokes todays.

The starion was heavily influenced by the 944, it is also the same engine that mitsubishi put into its forklifts and mighty max pickups. I have always loved them but they are getting very hard to find now.

I had a friend in HS that had two. Parts are bitch and the engine blows. Later JDM cars had the 4G63.

Now mind you, I like the RX-7 better than both.
God, I love 944's. What a sexy car. Would love to build one with an STI swap...

Meh 944's were I4's, doesn't need a boxer. LS's are quite popular swaps for these things.

Is this where I post up ever single fucking sports coupe from the late 70s into the early 90s and show how they all look basically the goddam same?

No one here ever wants to argue facts and debate based on what is. It is always always always dick swinging and justifying opinion.

Porsche has raced the 911 in GT racing since its inception. It is how they justify the performance and price. They also race prototype style cars. That is almost it. They've dabbled in RWD rally and did that stint at Dakar to prove they could. Outside of that what have they done?

I'm not knocking their long list of victories over the years but I cannot consed that as being automatically better or more important than Nissan racing in damn near every style and doing well in what they enter.

And if you think making special rules that only apply to one part of the field isn't shady there isn't even a need to talk about it. It is the same shit the FIA has been trying to do to Audi and their TDI program and the Corvette in general. Those guys chose to keep at it, Japan chose to walk away and focus on other areas.

Trying to get the train back on track.

I stumbled on a bunch of the renders I did back in 09 ish when the Urge Concept came out. I forgot about this one. Still a good looking car IMO. Wish i had time to do these kind of drawings still. They sure are fun.

Guys, calm down. Nissan is slowly turning it around. You guys should voice your thoughts about the IDx on IDxClub.co especially since Nissan is personally listening to the thread there.

Confirmed: Toyota FT-1 is next Supra - motoring.com.au

Toyota is planning a $16000 rwd turbo sports car to fit under the gt86 line up? Weird. Awesome. Designed by gt86,designer too? Awesome.

If they are going to slot something under the FRS/BRZ then those two must be going turbo.

That is ridiculous someone got their pricing mixed up. First off a Supra would not be entry level. It would also not go for 16k Second off slotting a turbo sports car underneath the FRS/BRZ would kill sales of those. Third off there is no way they are going make those cars turboed and or supercharged and then put a third turbo car underneath.
I say Supra ya but bullshit on the rest of the shit in that article sounds like speculation on the writes part and wishful thinking.

You got a bit confused. The article says they plan to green light the FT-1 as the new Supra. As well as Toyota wanting a new 16K sports car below the 86. It is probably that MRS hybrid concept car thing that was in display at TAS.

yes I did because I did a cursory glance over the article. LOL serves me right for doing a quick once over and not taking the time to fully read it.

I don't mind the basic form of it, just needs an editor of sorts to tone it down a bit. All those harsh lines and exaggerated proportions are likely to be highly polarizing and shift more people away from it than towards it.

Don't know how I missed hearing about that one. Interesting. I doubt it'll fair any better than the aenemic MR-S though.

They keep trying to entice car owners with hybrids and all electrics in form factors they wouldn't have liked with conventional engines.

Give people a solid midsized hybrid that is making a statement with its utility rather than tryhard looks and green eco warrior bullshit. Maybe give it a purpose built small single rotor generator that would do great with that job and tiny.

They should just start production on the same exact s13s, but update lights to led, and upgrade interior and some suspension. Maybe even stock turbo engines in us
