Nice idea! Hope it works out, and get pics!

I will still consider it a S15 Silvia even if you make it LHD because that is what the car is not matter what mods you do.

I mean for those fixing up US Silvias, first off they are not really Silvias to begin with (no offense), but most of you still consider them Silvias though because that is what it is in a different country.

But to each his own opinion I guess.

WTF is all the bullshit about it not being a real Silvia if it isn't RHD? If you REALLY think about it ALL U.S 240sx's were made in Japan and came from the same factory as JDM 180sx's and Silvia's. So all our cars are basically JDM if you think about it, they just put a different motor and a LHD configuration from the factory........ IN JAPAN.

How are you going to make it street legal?
I was under the impression that GTR's are the only japanese car to be made street legal in the U.S.
The S15 body style was never DOT approved so it can't be legal.
Correct me if im wrong though.

The only way I can think of would be to buy the car as a 'body in white' (a bare rolling chassis with no chassis number assigned to be used as a race car, most manufacturers will sell them) and register it as a kit car/homebuilt. But I'm not sure even that would work. Each state has different laws about what can be considered a kit car and how they have to be registered. I know in some places a kit car has to either have an existing US-legal base chassis or it has to be a replica of an existing US-legal base chassis. It'd be funny to register it as a replica of a 240SX

all im gonna say is that whatever the car started out as (Silvia) or (240sx) is what it ends up as in life, regardless of whats done to it. But seriously, all these cars were made with japanese hands, what is all the bitching about!??

I think it's funny as hell that this guy comes giving us some information on a kickass project he's got planned, and half of his thread turns into a dispute on terminology. Classic, guys :-)

Good luck on the project, keep us informed.
