TUCKING wire harness in s13's like a baws

Maybe I suck at this! Here is picture from inside the car. You can see the white coector with a blue stripe on it. If that is the one you are talking about, it goes farther up and behind the dash.

It goes over the steering column. Ignition switch and all. Pull the dash it's not that hard.

I know pulling the dash is not that hard, just trying to avoid it if I can. Maybe there is something different about my car. It's a 1990 sohc

I would just pull the dash man, it will make your life a hell of a lot easier.

I just pulled the harness out this way. Now just need to find a spot to make a hole and a path to route it.

Harrypotter, the front chassis harness only has that main plug, a couple plugs that go to the fuse box, clutch bottun, then extends to the ignition.

It is much easier to pull the dash and take it out but it can be done without removing it.

DON"T do it like that, unless you want to re-pull fender and re-tuck in the future, when you get big ass wheels in the front.

TODAY I GOT DOWN TO IT...

STEP 1 - REMOVE FENDER

STEP 2- look at the saggy ass harness rubbing on your 18" wheelzzzzzz, actually had to repair some damage, tire started rubbing through half the harness, my car actually shorted out pulling out of autozone in the middle of main st, fuck that never again..


STEP 3- remove plastic tube shielding around harness.

STEP 4- THIS is what i wish i would of knew back when i did it the first time, but if you cut out a slot, the harness tucks perfectly.


STEP 5- ZIP TIE THE FUCKER to random holes, like this
then bend the lip up to act as a barrier between wheel and harness..

STEP 6- repeat to other side of baller lambo aka s13


STEP 7- PUT THAT ISH back together and drive it how its supposed to be driven...

I like how everyone always argues over the "best" way to do it... Just do whatever works. I drilled and cut the little triangle piece on my S14 (if you have one you'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever had your fender off). Fixed some wires, threw it through the hole, and rewelded the cut. Then proceeded to make a skid plate bolted in with self driling screws. Works? Yes. Requires a lot of time cutting and extending wires? No.

Relocating it through the engine bay is easy. The inside wiring and box that needs to come out will NOT fit through the stock triangle opening. All you gotta do is slot that triangle hole and make it into a square. Done this on like 4 S13s and a couple of 14s.

However, once its routed by the strut tower, its a good idea to unravel the electric tape and insulation to try and flatten the wires out, then re-tape everything so the hood can clear it better. Not necessary, but will help greatly since the bundle of wires is like over an inch big.

hmmm to the people who think the zipties are gonna break? if anything, the tire will eat through my harness before a ziptie breaks, there is no way unless i seriously wreck that my tire will even come in contact with a ziptie

I actually don't like cutting those seams, i thought about that initially but ended up putting hoses there instead.

There is a metal plate shaped and welded on mine to protect the vertical section of the harness as well as the rubber plug that keeps water/dirt from getting into the cabin right behind the fuse box.

its an air to water intercooler, it has a heat exchanger(kinda like front mount) mounted in the front that coolant goes threw and gets cooled by the air and then the cold coolant goes threw the intercooler and cools the air that is going into the intake and then there is a water tank that stores all the cold coolant waiting to get cycled threw the intercooler. its way more efficient than the conventional front mount, the turbo side gets so hot you can hardly touch it and after it goes threw that tiny intercooler the intake side is cold, and thats after driving the car after several hours.

I routed mine through the engine bay after pulling the white plug and running it out of the firewall, just had to enlarge the triangular hole a bit. No cutting of wires required.
