quick question. how would the fzigen fn's 17X10 +12 fit on the back of an S13, stock body?
EDIT: i plan on running 275/40/17, would i be better off with a higher offset? |

you'd be extended out 6mm ( 0.23in ) more than me my fenders and pulled as you cans see from the pictures I think it can be done ( with pulled fenders of course )

in you guys' opinion(s), what are some of the best of the inexpensive grippy tires. i want to put something pretty sticky on my daily, but i dont want anything with a really low treadwear rating, and i'd rather not spend a couple hundred on each tire, either. |

depends on the offset and ride height and camber settings.
to Devens240, though.. 17x10+25's will NOT clear the coils on an s13 (front) without a rather large spacer. at least 15mm. they will fit on the back though, for sure. |

Hey guys im in Devens240' boat. I really dont want to get overfenders for the front.
Would 17x8.5 with I guess a bigger offset than +20 with an azenis 615 255/40/17 with a 5 or 10mm spacer work on the front with a little camber. Or does the size of the rim not matter that much? And sorry for the newbie question but what does it mean to pull your fenders? Last edited by moses; 10-21-2008 at 02:40 PM.. Reason: forgot something |

Glad i did the tires with the coilovers, as I think these front tires are a little bit too tall and too wide for a spring and strut combo. Currently the front left rubs in the middle of the plastic when it hits a bump on a fast corner and when I first had them at -2 camber(-1.5 now), there was only a finger width clearance (good enough) between them and the coilover spring. Next time around, I think I will sacrifice some ride quality to go with the low profile 245/40's. For the rears, they fit quite well, with only slight rubbing around the edge on one side because the suspension is now so low that the subframe is actually leaning slightly to one side or the other depending on how the toe is set (It tends to lean to whichever side the toe is off, or the toe is probably off because of whichever side it leans too; have toe arms ready to install to get more adjustment). I am hoping to help fix this a little with some subframe spacers (just something I've had laying around I need to install) to stiffen things up. Also, I don't think it was rubbing at all when I was at -1.25 camber (at -1 now), so i will probably go back to the sportier -1.25,r/-2,f camber settings. As far as how much room to fit wider tires goes, there is a ton on the inside; makes me wish I had gone with an even higher offset and a wider rim. Traction? Insane. Of course upgrading to coilovers at the same time probably helped out a ton, but I can't believe how well this thing grips and takes corners now. Straight line? Unbelievable. I can now hook on almost any road, any gear or speed, as long as the temperature is above about 50-60F. And when its colder than that it just spins them a little. Even on high boost! When I'm not even pointed straight!!! I can't wait to get it to the track and see how fast I can pull out of corners now that i can actually give it gas as I'm pulling out of a corner (with the old tires, I had to be pointed straight or in a higher gear, like third!)

Ppl don't usually run 8.5 because that's not as common as x8 or x9. EDIT: and to more fully answer your question, I've seen people run x9 +20 on the front w/ stock fenders, usually only 235's or so and a roll. For 255's, since you will balloon a bit w/ the sidewall, you'd want to slightly pull your fender if necessary depending on your ride height. And if you still don't know what that means, just search for "how to pull fenders" on here or google.

I plan on buying a pair of +25 FN's to so they clear and I can run -1.5* to 2* neg camber for better handling/ long tire life. |

I just put my buddies 17x8 +28 offset with a 245/40/17 on my s13 front and it came out a little less than an inch and that means if I put a 17x8.5 +28 offset with a 255 and that is +10mm. How far can I roll the front fenders without it looking too bad?
Does it make a difference at all in clearence if i go with a 8.5 rim or 9 inch rim in front? The calcuator says no but I just want to make sure. Last edited by moses; 10-24-2008 at 07:21 PM.. |

offset is more important than width, IMO. you can make a 10 fit where an 8 wont just by picking the right offset. me either, since you mentioned using a calculator. ![]() |

A 17x8 w/28 offset and 245 sticks out about 20mm in front with finger clearance. If I get a 17x8.5 w/ 255 I can go with the same offset and add a 5mm spacer. It would stick out about 26mm all together maybe more with the bigger tire. How bad would that be of a roll and pul in front?

i don't think it would fit with stock fenders and -2 degrees or less camber. if you read my post, the 245/45/17's I have barely fit with the coilovers (approx. .25" clearance between coilover and flush with fender at -2 degrees camber).

nice! but Edgar:
1) maybe note it is z32/s13/s14? I'm pretty sure that's your Z, but not EVERYONE knows what you test fit rims on ![]() 2) better pics please, i.e. further back/diff angle so that we can see how close it lines up w/ the fender, etc.

Lol, oh yeah, sorry to burst S-chassis owners bubble, but that's on a Z32. I'll get better pics this coming week.
It lines up close to what this 265 on the same wheel looks like. Just a slight bit more square. ![]() Better pics to come soon. With more light and a real camera, lol. |
