I plan on doing 6 miles today in my vibrams, hopefully ll goes well.

Did a little over 3.5 miles last night while just focusing on form. Re-emphasized how important form is because the run felt easier.

Im a pussy now I got winded after 2.5!! WTF! lol fuck i didnt think taking that short of a break from constant running would kill my months of hard work! haha wtf in tech school i was running 6 miles with ease. awwww shiiiittt

PS its still rad to walk over rocks with the fivefingers! lol

I sorta hAte running too, but I like hiking and sprints.
Currently in a pair of Nike free runs that i don't like to take off ever lol. I will try the lunar glide next. 5fingers look cool too but I can imaging stepping on a sharp object, ouch.

I currently have the nike lunarfly +. Pretty comfy shoe, but no match to my free 5.0's that I had. I will definitely be buying some more frees once I leave afghanistan

All our snow is finally melted. I'm scared to get back out there. I don't like treadmills so I haven't ran since November.... put a couple pounds on since then. 6' 185 (was 175) uggh.

I like the treadmil because I set the incline and it seems to make running outside on a flat surface easier
I hate treadmils because while you're running everything is stationary, so when you get off and start walking around, it seems like you're moving a million miles per hour

yeah, I've been looking at the Bikila's for a few days. I need to go to my hooch tonight and measure my foot.
Do you just measure from the very rear of your foot to the "index" toe?

If I remember correctly its place the heel of your foot against a wall on top of a ruler and measure from the back of your heel to the longest toe. I think they have the instructions on their website.

I wear a 9.5 standard issue boots. My vibrams are a size 42. I hope this helps you out bro.

My problem has been finding them in stock in my size, everywhere is always sold out of 8 1/2' sizes i forget the euro conversion on em

I know REI usually carries them, I picked up mine at sport chalet(some have them some don't) and sport chalet offers a military discount so I have no reason to get them online unless absolutely necessary.

for a good running shoe look into Asic Gt2160. really good all around running shoe for the price.

I heard that book was pretty good. Thinking about getting the Merrell Trail Gloves tomorrow. Still undecided tho. I don't know if I should get the Merrells or the Terra Plana Evo. The evos are pretty pricey tho, 160 dollars!

Leaning more towards the Merrells now since the price keeps killing me every time I look at them.

I picked up a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves Yesterday. Today was my first time running with them. I did a 3 mile run with them on with socks. Tomorrow is payday, I was thinking about getting these as well:
ZemGear - Minimalist Footwear

Hopefully the Zem 360 comes out soon. I know I'm buying alot of shoes but for 31.99 after taxes who would pass these up?

Just ordered the zem split low's because they looked like they might offer even more flex than the vibrams, and you can't really beat 30 bucks lol I'll let you know how they work out when i get them.

Just went for a quick 3 miler in my vibrams, nothing fancy, I have no hip pain and I feel great. My calves are a bit sore but I will be stretching the hell out of them; My only complaint is blisters, I seem to get hot spots in them but I can only guess that this will stop over time. Anyways going to keep this regiment going, goodbye regular shoes, you will not be missed hehe

are you wearing socks with your vibram? if it feels loose you probably need a smaller size.

also toe muscles probably not developed and feet mold hasn't adapted.

ive been stationary biking instead running in my vibram. too keep it very low impact. plantar fasciitis blows.

No on the socks, thats what I figured was the problem, I have the right size shoe this time I made that mistake with my first set. My toes themselves are fine the blister is occuring at the forefoot and nowhere else so the socks will probably be my next investment.

Just got done doing a 3 miler in my Trail Gloves. I wasn't in the mood to go any further. I am quite satisfied with the Merrell Trail Gloves. I thought I was going to encoutner some issues with them but they are workin gout for me. I think tomorrow I'll wear my Vibrams and do 6.

Razor, I hear you on the sore calf muscles. What I have been noticing though is that the muscle lower than the calf muscle, the one above the achilles tendon is getting bigger.

Anyone down to do weekly mileage reports?

If so, the first one will be from 28Feb to 6Mar. Keep a tally of your mileage and use this format:

1.) Miles you ran for this week
2.) What shoes were you wearing
3.) Road, trail, or deadreckoning
4.) Any issues encountered
5.) Pace
6.) Rate your run, 10 being thebest run EVER!

Just a thought, I'll be doing this as I go along. Anyone can join me if they would like to.

I'm down for this, my first few weeks are going to be relatively low, just got done with my physical therapy for my hip now I'm free and clear to go. But from here on out all of my runs will be in VFF's.

Just to add on my post about the weekly mileage. Lets make it an honor system. Be truthful about your weekly mileage. We are NOT competing against each other. I mean theres alot of people on here that say they run, we can use this thread to record our runs as well as talk about it. If you are that guy that does put in some bogus mileage, all your doing is cheating yourself.

Sounds good to me, I'll consider monday my first day and will report my weekly findings on sunday, will probably be 3 miles every other day and build up from there woot
