I just picked up a new Mazda 3 skyactive hatch. If the WRX were a more practical car (mpg was a big factor in my decision) it would have been a no-brainer. |

i have a audi, they are reliable as long as you make sure the maintenance its up to date. get the a4/a3 either the 1.8 or 2.0. the 2.0 the 1.8 turbo will feel sluggish, just flash the ecu with the big injector flash ($500) and you will be in the 230-240hp range the 2.0 turbo will be a bit higher |

I would never buy a new car. Let someone else drive it off the lot and get hit with the depreciation, then buy it with sub-10k miles just a little bit later.
If I had to, though, I'd buy a Focus or maybe wait for the SKYACTIV-D Mazda 6. The car I'd really like, though, is the Mazda 2 3-door with the 1.4L SKYACTIV-G. The Europeans drive slow cars that get really good gas mileage; I see no reason why we cannot do the same. |

I previously owned a '06 Audi A4 3.0 and it was a decent car but it was expensive to maintain and not so fuel efficient. If you have disposable income for maintenance go for it.

I like the 2 as is.
can't imagine it having any less power than it already has, and fuel economy could be a bit better for it's class. ideally you'd want a bit of both. typical mazda though. well sorted out, responsive car. not very memorable powertrain. If I were to get a daily driver today, the 2 would be one of my first choices. I like the 3, but don't think I could afford one right now. 2 is very tempting. |

put a hundred miles on the Mazda over the weekend,
these are my impressions so far: - I need to tint the windows ASAP, was really annoying having a Honda with riced out headlamps behind me. - Sound system feels a little weak (iTouring). - Driving position feels very high. But it's no surprise though; I've been driving lowered cars for over a decade. - FWD and electronic throttle take a little getting used to. It's different than what I'm accustomed to. Still figuring out the characteristics of the powerband. overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. |

mini's are nice!! Im 6'6 and it still feels like it has more room than my old 02 civic and many other cars. It also handles just like I want it to. Plenty of power for around the city, and plenty of fun in the mountains. Im looking at buying one (rented one for a month).
I feel weird saying this: The new ford focuses are tits, its just kush all around. It puts a smile on my face every time I start it up. Ive rented three different ones. The hyundai sonata's are great too! The ford Focus is still tops on my list. The steering takes a min to get used to as it responds Right Away. electronic throttle does take a minute to get used to but once it gets going it gets going. For "just around town" the versa works, but not for much more. And, its kinda bare minimum. I cant wait to rent a cube and a soul to compare the two. Someone with a cube should chime in about handling and power.

Handling on the cube is actually quite nice. I've never driven for anything more than what it is intended for, daily commuting, so I can't give you an opinion on handling from a performance point of view.
It does have go-kart like feel to it though. We have a CVT model and it was weird to get used to it at first. Pretty much you don't feel as if the transmission is shifting gears. So there isn't that slight tug/push feel when accelerating. Also, electric throttle control was awkward for me. Power is spot on perfect for a car of its size. I can cruise at 65 and when need to I press a little harder and 80 comes up fairly quick. Plus the CVT tends to put you in the sweet spot when necessary it seems. Personally the only downside on the car for me has been the very boring arrangement of the stereo unit and the climate control (non-digital) unit. I wish they had given it some "techy" flair of some sort as most cars have now (i.e. Kia Soul). Oh and I'm not a fan of the material used for the seats or the headliner. It attracts dirt, hair (we have a dog), and stains very easily. Hopefully this Summer I upgrade to leather covers and I plan on wrapping the headliner in something more appealing as well. Sound system is quite nice too. We don't have the upgraded sound system with the sub-woofer in the 5th door panel, but I bet once we get an aftermarket unit it'll be even better. Can't beat the space and comfort as well. I really do like this car and hope Nissan don't change to much on it in the coming years, but improvements are always welcomed.
