96Turbo : that's a clean ass rb25! Ya I like this chassis better anyways. Fresh start and now I'm really motivated. Ya I'm hoping for 250hp but we will see. I think I will get the 10pt cage this time with those nascar style side bars. And am still debating on doing megasquirt or stock harness... what's another $600 right?

pshhhh i piss $600 daily

+1 for the nascar door bars....the only worthwhile tech that nascar has contributed to anything

megasquirt looks pretty cool...and it seems to be very popular on the CA18s....why is that?

mainly i think because megasquirt is a cheap standalone and its reliable. thats why i want it. Plus its basic a couple sensors, injectors, and ignition wires. how far of a drive is it?

EDIT: Now we will be known for doing gay shit LMAO oh and CA > SR i can say that now that rep is gone.

Yeah! Cali Born!!!!!! High 5 right back at ya!
Tom wouldn't be able to handle an SR even if it was in his dreams.
He would be to amazed and scared of the power that it would turn into a terrible nightmare.
I could see him waking up in a cold sweat, crying.

oh geeze !!! They both have there up's and downs.

If u wanna be a trendy fag that you have to source all your parts out ..get an SR... if you want to be a little more original and have a way better designed head ( CA has 1 valve per lobe vs. SR has 2 valves per lobe) meaning more rpm and you can go to autozone to get all your parts if needed then get a CA.

SR has 205hp vs the CA's 175hp Stock

They both weight about the same

CA's are alot cheaper

Either way you are getting a used engine and u never know what ur going to get. With that said do some basic maintenance before you throw it in your car. The CA vs SR battle has been going on forever.

I like CA's I got A full swap and ACL Bearings, ARP Rod, flywheel and Head Bolts, S14 Turbo, FMIC, new oil pump, water pump, ETC. For cheaper then a stock SR SWAP. So i have a reliable more powerful engine for the the cost of a STOCK SR!

EDIT: I forgot to mention Greddy HG, Greddy Timing belt and full 3" exhaust aswell

<3 u jimmy LMAO

whoah whoah whoah killer.
let's go hit the dyno, see who's making more power, but with those same upgrades on an SR. who will win? SR. ( Disregard the fact that now I'm running the S15 Spec R turbo ) Even when I was running the s14 t28 on a stock SR w/ SMIC, no exhaust upgrade AND no other modification, who's gonna win vs. current CA? You guessed correctly. SR! CA parts can be bought at auto zone, not because of the non turbo CA, but due to the fact that autozone KNOWS that they wouldn't be able to make any money off of SR parts. Why? you may ask? Because they are expecting CA's to break down and need part replacement every 5 seconds. (that was a joke, but a good analogy.)
NEXT off, I didn't know that you could buy any of the above parts that you purchased for you're CA (except for the oil and water pumps) at auto zone. They sell S14 turbos now? and FMIC's, ARP Rod, flywheel, and head bolts?
I didn't need a new oil or water pump when I bought my swap, and when phil, after two years, needed a new water pump, he got it for cheap!!!!!! and waited how long for shipping? or did he just go to the dealership?

In conclusion, all of the parts that you have thrown into you're CA were strongly recommended and a good choice due to the fact that if you buy a CA, it may be cheap, but that swap ain't gonna last long without all the modification. (Just look at Christian's CA)

You pay for what you get.

P.S. You're head is "better"?
Shit I spent one hundred dollars on rocker arm stoppers. Will I have any floaters? Doubt it, but if I do I will go solid lifters and destroy the head of that CA.

SR20DET>CA18DET
(P.S.S. SR's became trendy due to the fact that they are one of the best options you have for making a 240 drift ready, definitely a better option than a CA. If you want to go unique status, make it all polished, get some carbon, chrome purple, and call it a day. Wait shit that's already been done. Still bad ass, but the next trendstarter?)

Wait...
As well... CA's aren't trendy due to the fact that they are almost all blown, destroyed, and in trash cans all across america, japan, (and even canada).

SR's are more expensive and more popular why? Because they are more reliable and powerful, and they are a choice of keeper to anyone who owns one.

<3 You Tom.

My point JAMES was that for the cost of a stock SR swap i can put all of that into a CA and wont have to worry about " reliability" And no Autozone doesnt sell all of the parts i bought. However i did but all new timing idler pully, timing tensioner, and some gaskets from autozone. and the reason they dont supply SR parts is because they aernt in america where as CA18DE are. And it was your choice not to replace oil pump, water pump, etc. And u and phil have been lucky. You cant compare ALL CA's to christian. He got a 400 dollar engine and slapped it in his car. Thats like me bringing up tony and why one of his SR rods was sparking down the 14 freeway? you cant base all opinions off of one experiance. There are plenty of High HP CA's and SR's its all personal preferance. i know phil is going to write a book on this so i will save my typing for that.

PS i forgot to include my Greddy HG and timing belt in the cost of the swap either.

For all of the extra money you are putting into that CA JUST to make it more reliable, you still won't have the power of an SR. AND there is no way to compare Tony's SR to any other, you know just as well as I do what he did to that SR. But lmao to the flying rod across the freeway.
