Sure it is.
i walked into the dealer already financed and ready to go, and i STILL got a better price, and intrest rate, after haggling with three dealers. (21500 vs 20500 down to 20,000, and a 3.0% to a 1.9% through toyota)

Im just saying, when you tell someone what you paid for your car, you should include your downpayment, financed amount, taxes, tags, and title to get a REALISTIC number for someone else looking to buy the same car

the K03 in a 1.8t is shit. even if you open everything up and chip it, it has zero top end power. makes city driving nice and easy, however, isn't much fun IMO. i don't have much experience with the 2.0, but the B6 A4's look like they were designed by toyota.

VAG cars are still a PITA. car-special tools, horrific design flaws that make accessing various wear parts nearly impossible, etc, etc. MK4's smell like crayons in the summer time (interior glue) as well.

I had a '99 vw passat 1.8t and didn't care for it at all.
It's fine if you keep it stock-ish with chip & boltons but becomes a nightmare if you take it much further.
my parents have an audi a3 and it's pretty fun to drive around, although of course they keep it stock as well.

i disagree. i'd do an A4 over an A3 every time. i also can't see spending the extra money for an A3 over a GTI. for a DD, i'd rather have the 2wd car.

if it were for a DD, i wouldn't do it. it makes sense on paper, but i find subarus exhausting to drive. for some reason i cannot get them rolling without serious concentration. i don't know what my problem is, to be frank. i've been driving a stick shift for nearly 14 years (got my first E30 when i was 14, and fuck yes, i drove it all over the neighborhood). i must just suck at it.

Visually the A4 never appealed to my after the B5 model.
I got to drive the A4 about a year ago and felt it was too soft and lacked response.
It's like they catered the thing to camry drivers.
I think the A3 is completely worth it over the GTi if you dont want to deal with the typically useless VW warranty.

I had an 06' STi, bought new, kept stock, for 2 years.
It was one of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned.
Other than the so-so mpg & softer steering, it made a great daily imo.
I really like how the WRX drives a lot too.

I say def check it out and see for yourself if it's something you'd like.
