what year? pre obd2 1995 and older require tailpipe emission reading if you car is running good with no aftermarket exhaust should pass. obd2 1996 and newer are computer scan and they only check if u have check engine light on=fail, smoke from exhaust=fail, if you unplug ur battery right before smog to clear check engine light=fail

@sr vegas 240:: I have 1992 S13 with a stock exhaust which at startup occasionally will blow a small amount of white smoke I think it may be a bad injector as everything else on it is new including the 1997 Nissan Quast alternator. If it doesn't pass how long will they give you to get it into speck? Thanks
for your response. Last edited by Carbonsnail; 08-26-2020 at 12:17 PM.. |

You should be able to pass, but if you don't you just wont be able to register. However your car is over 25 years old so you can get it registered as a classic vehicle no smog required only down side you can not drive over 5000 miles per year. If you go over 5000 miles you will be required to pass smog.

@sr vegas 240: Right on, thank you very much for the info. How often do 240sx clubs come together there in Vegas? Also are there good import/performance shops for Nissans in the area? Thanks again for your time and input.
