With a hood on, in Florida weather, your engine bay temperatures are going to rival that of the sun. You're going to melt your bmc reservoir and be filled to the brim with regret.

It dosent really get hot where I am, highest I've seen was 98 degrees and that was years ago, also the brake booster and the down pipe will be wrapped, so I won't have any problems

not going to bag your project its neat to see all swaps done, but why the e36 with sr20? I ask because i own a e36 m3 with the inline 6 and also a s14 with the sr20 swap. Hands down if you turbo that e36 engine if its not the 4 cylinder it would be dumb fast cause there is a ton of torque in the e36's just my thoughts but I'd love to see it with the engine in it

Well I always had loved the SR platform, and the motor that was in the e36 was the m42(1.8L) which is slow and low powered also. And I wanted to do somthing different.

What was wrong with the BMW engine? Hell I've joked around with the idea of putting a 2.8l into my 350z.

How is putting an RB20 or a CA18 into it any different than an SR? I'm not hating on your build at all, I'm just curious as to why an RB or CA would be "dumb".

no it understandable, well from my point of view for the weight of the RB is to much, compared to the power it can make, and CA18, i always have hard time finding parts for and they arnt a very popular motor so fixing them and finding people that knows about them is a lot harder to find. the reason why i chose SR
is to not throw off the weight distribution off to much, and they are cheap, reliable, and there is an abundance of information on the the engine. i guess calling the other motors a dumb choice wasnt the best way to put it, its just dosent suite me and what i want to do.

I find it hard to imagine you would ever notice the 100lb difference in weight.

The RB25 shines by having a significantly better transmission and the extra half-liter of displacement.

RB20 is garbage and the CA18 is a step in the wrong direction.

I know that. I was just highlighting the 25 as the logical alternative to the SR.

Only fools swap CAs and RB20s.

Making pretty good time man! There's a event at cfrc this weekend too. I wanna see it run!

But to add to the rb25 debate , they're MORE expensive not "roughly" the same price. Parts are much more expensive and harder to find. S1 or S2 Rb25? How many headaches do you want? His choice of the SR is much smarter then a Rb series and has plenty of room for power for his goal.

this started out with such promise and then came the crush bent exhaust rubbing againts wiring and the bmc. I was going to suggent running a remote remote resevoir for the bmc like hondas do but that wont help that crush bent pos downpipe from catching the coil pack wiring on fire.
