an overall improvement and evolution from the 350z, but it still doesn't look like a z to me.

that looks more like the 280z than it does the 350 the rear quarters are tribute for sure. overall i like the look of it, the headlights and tailights are not the most attactive but at the same time are somewhat pleasing to the eye in comparison to the shape of headlights in other vehicles.

i don't care how much "better" paddle shifters are,

there is no replacement for a traditional H pattern and three pedals.

Paddle shifters + DSG transmission are really "better" as in faster around a track...

but the traditional shifters are more fun to me always..

But that's not what this is, and that's why it's not as good as a traditional 6spd manual.

Automatics with paddle shifters are still automatics - you still have a torque converter instead of a clutch system, so you're losing more power, and when you click a paddle/button, the computer tells the tranny to shift, and whenever it feels like it, it executes the shift - that lag is annoying as hell.

I think the car looks aiight, but its silly to think of it as a 'muscle car' like the Japs do... it's got nothing on the c6 vette, (probably around the performance of the Camaro and Challenger v8s though) but will probably cost almost as much. If I could get a base model with the 3.7L and a 6spd for $25k like you could with the 350z, I'm all for it.

Wow.

Much more aggressive than 350.

interior looks much more refined and quality materials.

I never fully liked the 350's body lines, but these look way gangster

My guess will be the BASE model will now start around $35-$38k range. That's about $10k more then the base 350z. This will def. move it more upmarket to compete with the 911 better.

What concerns me is that we're not hearing about "Ring" times or any other performance figures compared to the Porsches of the world.

The overall shape is kinda nice (side profile especially) but I still can't get over those head/tail lights. I don't think they'll ever grow on me.

The interior looks pretty good though. I remember a lot of people complaining about the Z33's interior.

It'd be kinda cool if they offered it with turbo right out of the factory but that might probably take away from GT-R sales and the smaller coupe they plan on coming out with.

Here you go. I'm sure this is a repost as it is from August.

RoadandTrack.com -- New & Future Cars - New & Future Car: Nissan 240SX Successor (8/2008)

What worries me is the Variable Compression Ratio, what will happen if you want to throw on a bigger turbo and up the boost?

its a fake...that has already been covered...if you see any of mine, exitspeeds or driftfreaqs comments or ramblings...please go about 10-15 pages back in the 2010 silvia thread and read what we have covered as all 3 of us are all over that car like rice on hondas

the original of that picture came from bestcar magazine...7tune then posted it on their old site and then magazines like road and crap (track i mean) got a hold of it and photoshopped it to look real...following nissans current design trends...that photoshopped image doesnt hold a grain of salt really

weighing in here from Chicago-land, It looks great. In fact those official side shots having an amazing amount of of S30 heritage in the look. From the side angle the car looks like a S30 with crazy body mods for track use. I like it and I like it a lot. I honestly feel right now that the new version of the S chassis will just not look nearly as dope. I know a lot of you hate to even think that. Though how could Nissan make something look better than this car and be cheaper?
Anyways, I will be back in Cali tomorrow and probably posting a little more, Mel, I have quite a few articles lined up and once again, I have some keen observations of the other makes. Including why Toyota is so strong.

You're an hour from me and you didn't let me know! We coulda met up for a beer.

But yea, I'm with you on this. GTR = ULTRA WIN! 370z = ULTRA WIN! Nissan is on a roll and it doesn't look like they are int he mood to go fuck things up right now in regards to their sports car line-up.
