After reading the thread ( for three days ) I have decided me wants. Do you have any left that need the mod? ( the $750 ones that is ) If you do I could buy them in about one week ( I get paid on the 31st ) hopefully they will last that long. I'll worry about finding a qualified shop to install them later, the shop I talked to said they could install them but the couldn't do an alignment ( kinda lame but OK). Let me know ASAP please thanks.

I used to be a mechanic in a former life ( industrial not auto ) so I have a tool box twice the size of my car that could handle anything from putting in battery to swapping the motor. The problem is that I don't have a space to do the work ( i think thats most peoples problem with doing the work on their own cars). I think I am going to PM the dude about those coilovers, should have done that last night :hammer:

I feel my MR coilover so stiff (spring rate 8/6).
Did anyone know if it's possible to change the spring by 6/4 ?

I can't find any e-mail adress on the MR website :/

are you serious? the MR coilovers feel great to me, have you tried turning the dampening to a larger number?

i drove mine 200 miles set on 2 and 2 and my back barely started hurting about 10 mins from the destination

Yes I am

I tried dampering between 16 to 32 in about 3000 miles.
Now I just driven about 1000 miles in 3 days on various way (from motor-way to city-way) with dampering 22/27.
I have a big front strut brace.

I feel front very comfortable but rear is too hash (?).
Sometime the rear broke my spinal column

I just attended in a drift event with these coilovers. Versus my old setup, TEIN S.Tech springs and KYB AGX struts, the Megan coilovers have cleaned up all the body roll and have made my driving improve by a lot. My drift transitioning has been much more precise and smoother, with a lot more control. At 1st, I was messing around with the damper adjustments where I had 16 in the front and 1 (stiffest) in the rear, and I couldn't control the car as easily as 16 all around. I believe the parking lot that the event was being held at had different elevations and caused my rear end to hop in mid-drift. I ended up using 16 in the front and rear, which is also my daily driving setting, and it seems like the median for me, the perfect setting for the spring rate, or at least maybe my 2 finger gap drop. Overall, this is my 1st coilover set, but it is definetely a good help at the events. And to whore out my action shots, here are a few pics of my last event, thanks to LookOutDrift.

Hey everyone,
I promised Chris I would post up pics of the coilovers. I also took the liberty of taking pics of the install. I hope this helps those who have to do the mod and anyone else just wanting to install coilovers in their S14.

The package opening ceremony:

The bottom part can be twisted off.

For the rear- 78 revolutions from the bottom
For the front- 53 revolutions from the bottom
This was about where they were in the box. I just wanted them to be more precise so I took it apart and matched them both up.

Stock Suspension:

The Install:

19mm for the nut
17mm for the bolt

14mm for the camber plate bolts

Where the problem lies with the defective MR's:

After dremeling one hole:

After dremeling both holes:

The only thing stopping these things from going through is paint.

Attach the camber plates section first:

I did not tighten them all the way just for a adjustability purposes for the bottom bolts. (Temporary)

When you need to jack up the control arm:

Control arm jacked:

Better:

Problem 2:
Even after dremeling the holes for the bolt to go through, there is still not enough room for the bolts to go through.

I broke the dremel bit and had to run to home depot for 2 more. You have to dremel upwards for the top one and downwards for the bottom bolts.

Both through:

Caution:

When installing your front coilovers, do not leave one side with the stock one and the other with with the coilover completely bolted. For some reason, the control arm on the other side (stock) was putting pressure up and was not letting the stock one come down far enough for the bolts to come out, the strut was pinned to the hub. I took the bolts out of the c/o side and the stock came right out after that.

*Note- the reason for this is beacause the sway bar was still on. I suggest doing both at the same time to save you time in the removal of the sway bar.

What to do:
Removal:
Remove the stock bolts first at the hub
then remove the bolts up top
Repeat process for other side.
Remember both sides off before c/o's. NOT ONE AT A TIME.

Installation:
Bolt up top plates
Jack up control arm
place bolts through hub
torque everything down (specs at bottom)
tighten with spanner wrenches
repeat for other side

ANOTHER CAUTION!!! DO NOT TIGHTEN THIS BOLT
I thought I read somewhere that you had to tighten this bolt down in order for the dampening adjuster to work. No need to tighten it.

IT WILL BREAK:

The rear is alot easier. Make sure the top bolts are in first and then jack up the rear arms (name???) Someone to help you would be great.

My mother bolting up the top bolts in the rear:

What a trooper!

The rear also needs raising.
17mm bolt for the bottom:
100ft/pounds torque

Plate bolts for the rear:
16-19ft/pounds torque

Aftermath:

Remember to tighten all the parts necessary with the spanner wrenches before you put the tire on.

Torque specs (ft/pounds)
Front camber plates= 45
front bolts= 130
Rear bolt= 100
Rear plates= 16-19

Dampening
I highly suggest getting them away from hard as quick as possible. You know those lines in a cross walk, well on full stiff, I felt the car go up and then down. I think it just sucks on roads. I put them all at 20 and they ride alot more comfortable for the road. For drifting, well, no answer yet. I am going to break them in for about 1000 miles before any hard driving.

For any further questions:
email- cdoria (at) comcast.net

Patience, you can do it!

I am not responsible for anything you do to your car.

Chris,
Can you find out if I will be able to get just the dampening nut (its just one piece with the black part attatched)?

Wishing you all the best,
Carlos Doria

yeah, that happened to me as well, but the cause was slightly different...

the dampening adjustment somehow froze on one of my rears, and i broke the black knob off by hand...so my rear left is stuck on full stiff lol

AZN,
Yea man, its ver unfortunate for that to break, but I am still able to adjust the damper (sp?). Only concern is that since it is not bolted down, will the damper level change?

Mainevent,
you should still be able to adjust it. Unbolt that top bolt and then just use the allen key on the black knob. You should feel the "clicking" after that.

no i know how to adjust them lol, trust me on that

the reason that the knob broke on mine is different from yours

the black knob was jammed, it wouldnt turn properly for some reason, so i gave it more force (with my hand) and it broke off and the stripped the key on the end...i have tried using the knob from the other side to no avail. No worries though, i contacted underground who talked to MR, and they are very happy to replace it with a new unit as soon as they come in stock. i am very happy with the service from both underground and Megan Racing. Very honest guys, unlike about 50% of the shops i've dealt with in the past...even some sponsors of zilvia and NICO...

Chris, I emailed you about the these Megan coilovers. I *might* be a survivor of a seriously bad D2 group deal by a guy named Mark Mizzy on the Maxima forum, and other forums as well. He's basically saying "You're money is gone, you are not getting your D2's and I'm not refunding you" Good business practice right? Anyway, I'm awaiting Paypal's decision on whether to reimburse me my $800. When I they do, I'll be interested in a set of these Megans. (BTW, pardon my stupidity, but is it pronounced M-ee-gan, or like the girl's name Megan?).

Thanks!

Aren't the D2's and Ksports the same as the Megans? No chance of the same thing that happened with those happening with these right? I remember a lot of people were waiting for a very long time on those

and also the same as the Omnis for Hondas.
