I know there was talk about it, but doubt one will actually be available to order stripped down.

The back seat looks like less room than my 996. Only my 4 and 2 year old can sit back there, they do love it though.

24 isnt bad. The miata is around 22-23 iirc.
Really hope the 0-60 accel times are a little quicker than just below 7.
The gc turbo does that & is a much heavier car

Was just thinking how if you can be one of the first with one, loan the car out to some of these aftermarket companies so they can fab up some parts for it so in return you get the parts free.. like K&N for their intake kid (they do ask for cars sometimes) .

2013 Subaru BRZ

Low weight was also a priority. Subaru said the target was 2,700 pounds, and according to the numbers we were given, they beat it by about half a sack of potatoes, coming in at 2,689

the BRZ is 10 hp and 73 lb-ft down on the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, but is about 600 pounds lighter.

Subaru plans a longer life-cycle for the car, six to seven years instead of four to five, and it was strongly hinted that we would see a power bump during a mid-cycle refresh – but not a turbocharged bump. We were told as well, though, that this engine will be the base of Subaru's next-generation turbocharged engine.

The BRZ goes on sale next March and options will be few.

When the BRZ goes on sale next March it will come standard with navigation, the 6.1-inch display, 196-watt AM/FM/single CD stereo, iPod and USB connections and Bluetooth, and heated mirrors. Options will be few, namely convenience items like the leather and Alcantara buckets, heated seats, dual-zone climate control and keyless access.

We heard every number from $22,000 to "somewhere around the WRX," which is $25,595, to $28,000.

The instrument panel was designed so that a roll cage could be installed without having to cut through any metal.

The BRZ goes on sale next March and options will be few.

There's also some not so great news too

There's no turbo, and no plans to include one.

The company doesn't have official numbers on gas mileage but predicts 30 on the highway. (uh yes that does suck considering it's about the same as the heavier & more powerful v6 mustang)

In keeping with being told that the car is meant for high-speed cornering, however, the brakes might also see some upgrades before long. They're two-piston up front, single-piston in the rear, and they get a workout even with the car's light weight. Go for broke on a turny, tight course and it won't take long to fill the air with the tangy perfume of hot discs and pads.

wish they tested it more for the limits of brake fade.

or an aftermarket company will develop hubs in 5x114

yeah you might be able to do a conversion but that's just another expense & hassle.
it's a dumb oversight, but not a deal killer.

Subaru Confirms Turbocharged Version of BRZ Engine - WOT on Motor Trend

A representative of Subaru of America confirmed today that the company plans to build turbocharged versions of the 2.0-liter flat-four engine that recently made its debut in the companies all-new BRZ sports coupe – and in the Toyota 86/GT86 and Scion FR-S variants.
The new turbocharged variant will be based on the FA20 engine, which utilizes square architecture (86mm x 86mm bore and stroke) and the D4S port and direct injection fuel system co-developed with Toyota. FA series engines also boast more compact dimensions over the current FB-series of Subaru flat-flours that power the current line of Foresters

It merely 'speculates' that the turbo engine will go into the brz. Its doesnt confirm it.
It doesnt even specify where that engine will end up.
(although its prob safer to presume its for the next wrx.

Didn't we just hear them officially saying no plans for F/I ?

that's all.. unless there is an official announcement, it would be hard to believe.

They also said that 200bhp is good enough for 2700lbs car...

Of course I would like to see it F/I model and maybe I would get one for my self after a year from first production comes out. I don't think I will consider buying one just yet... Even though it looks super nice and sexy and super tempted..
