Truth, it makes sense for the Scion one to be significantly cheaper if the Subaru comes with navi and HIDs stock. Could take some sales away from the TC for people who don't know much about cars but think a sporty 2 door is cool.

I like the dimensions, small cars can be nice in traffic, when parking in crowded cities, easier to move around in the garage. I really like the BMW 1 series for that reason, but unfortunately they made them a bit tall and ungainly looking for the length. I have backseat passengers about 2% of the time I drive, and mostly for 10-15 minutes; I'd rather have a car that's easier to deal with all the time than give my very occasional passengers slightly more comfort.

My two cents for two things.
1 - Nissan's potential RWD coupe: RWD Altima coupe with the front wheels moved forward by 8 inches - done. (With some styling revisions to make it it's own car)
2 - The Toyobaru Triplets: I'm really hyped up at the simple mental image of these cars driving by on the streets. Now I want one! Just wish I had a way to save up. By the way; Whose to say you can't give the 2.0 N/A a bit more kick by putting headers on the engine? Unless they already come with equal length manifolds already.

Altima coupe is a big fat pig and making that chassis rwd would just add even more weight.

The Altima will never be a rwd car. If Nissan were to bring a compact rwd car back, they'd create a new name or revive the Silvia moniker.

We've been speculating at a new Nissan rwd coupe since this thread was created (2006). It's not going to happen anytime soon. They're too focused on green machines like everyone else.

The Altima coupe is just a cheap way to leverage an existing platform to get more market share. It's not a bad car, I think it's attractive, but it isn't a sports car, isn't trying to be, and won't ever become one.

I'm not sure if I see Nissan entering this segment at all, and I'm OK with that. They're doing other things very well right now. It's not a big market in the first place, and more than 1-2 players means that someone is going to have an unprofitable mess on their hands.

I think that Nissan should sell something Evo-esque though, given all their background and engineering sunk costs with AWD systems and forced induction. The current Sentra platform is a bad joke, but they could unfuck the next one and trickle down a little GTR technology to make it something worth owning.

Well, I was more mainly focused on bringing the Altima Coupe's Cab design to light, since the other two cars (the Z and G) having a similar design over the past two generations. Besides, that car is probably as small as they're gonna get in a 2 door due to all the reinforcing, air bagging, wiring, and sound deadening that manufacturers like to cram into the roof and pillars of new cars these days. I'm also not holding my breath for something so simple to come from Nissan anymore, either. The Z car went way south after the second generation in terms of weight, size, and needless complexity, and the R35 GT-R just doesn't seem the same when compared to previous cars with the same badge (I understand that was the point behind that car, but it still rubs me the wrong way). Anyway, enough of that rambling, the segment is already filled with the Genesis coupe, which has a cool little turbo 4 as a base, and the upcoming triplets, being exceptionally lighter than the former. My personal opinion, they could've named the cars differently. For example, the Subaru could've been named the 'Alcyone' like the two previous generations (sold here as 'XT' and 'SVX') or maybe just simply 'Zenith', as that's what the 'Z' in 'BRZ' stands for , while the Toyota could've been sold as the 'Celica II' or something. Just random letters and numbers in assortment don't make the best names I find, but what do I know.

wow I was going to type out a complete response explaining why you are so off base on the shit you posted above. Then I realized you would not get it.

I suggest you learn more about actual facts and automotive engineering before talking in this thread again.

I wonder which team this is. I hope that isn't the final color scheme and the article doesn't state how they know it's a turbo.

I hope they do confirm a turbo version for like the 2nd or 3rd year. Then I can buy a NA used one cheap.

some of the pics i've seen on the interwebs show it might be a whole knuckle/wheelbearing/hub bolt on replacement kit. this would be awsome since the stock wheelbearings(assuming they are the same as the wrx) are doo doo.

at least its not a conversion spacer.

WTF? 5x100? suby and scion have both moved to 5x114.3, the new tc's are 5x114.3 so are the wrx/sti's...wow. that just killed it. not to mention this thing is probably going to be a few grand too expensive.

you are a better man than I. could not decipher anything from that post at all.

back the car, that vid doesn't really say a lot imo.
at worst it could be just a race team doing crazy stuff that wouldn't even be practically feasible in the aftermarket, much less becoming something stock.

nonetheless it's not a bad thing either by any means.
I'm sure it'll generate some positive publicity.

It does show the car is possibly being taking seriously by the racing community. This could cement its place as a bona fide sports car. Whereas cars like the Genesis still do not have any kind of strong racing efforts,( Insert disclaimer (that I have seen so far) that would cement their status as real sports cars.

These are concerns I have had long time enthusiast friends voice over the FRS/BRZ. Dare I say they fear that it will attract the same crowd currently all over 240's. LOL

WHOA GM get's into the segment! Well at least in concept form. The fact that they are even considering jumping in is very encouraging. You know what this thing looks like to me? A new version of a S13 coupe. I like it. It's more masculine and I love the proportions. I'm going to make sure to talk to someone there this weekend and give them some seriously positive feedback.

I rather buy a Juke: more power, more torque, cargo room, awd and starts at 21k.

chevy needs to get rid of that tiresome front end look.
