so i have some nissan 4 piston aluminum calipers (30mm), everything is great but why do they not say sumitomo on them. From what i have seen z32 calipers all say sumitomo so what gives? I tried searching the net but i found nothing of value. Thanks

Its just the makers name

Most z32 and skyline calipers say sumitomo

this might be the fact that they may even be the JDM silvia series calipers. .. .try that one

So cookie says that some z32 calipers may not have Sumitomo written on them for some reason. That sounds interesting, but if they were all made by Sumitomo why would they just decide to not put their name on them anymore? NI YON Zenki is going with JDM Silvia calipers. That would be cool but I though they were only made in iron for the Silvias, am I wrong? Sideview 180sx, the first link seems to not pertain to my question at all, did I miss something? And for the second link I like this one--- http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm --- same thing only more info, probably where the guy in your link got the images and info. Thanks a ton for the suggestions, now we just need someone to back up one of the arguments or be 100% sure of the answer. Again thanks for all of the help and keep the thoughts coming

can i ask why u care if they say sumitomo or not???? your calipers have the NISSAN... they are 30mm... they are alum... and they work... who knows.. maybe when your calipers got rebuilt the sumitomo got sanded off...

The only reason i care is i want to know what they came off of. I rebuilt them the first and only time and i did not sand it off. I just figured if all z32 calipers said sumitomo and mine didn't what car did nissan make that ran 30mm alum calipers (i know skylines but they say sumitomo also)? Just curiosity is all, but thanks for the input!

Regardless of what car if came from, IT'S THE EXACT SAME CALIPER.

I should start asking where my ashtry is from since it doesnt say nissan on it. after all it could be from a silvia, 180sx or even a sil80.... hmm i should start a thread on this...
